I'm tempted to do a happy dance honestly. This is just too good to be true.

"The senbon shuriken are the easiest to throw, we'll start with those." He says handing me a star blade

We walk to the middle of the room facing a wood board

"With the senbon shuriken throwing technique, hold the blade with your thumb and index finger. Put one foot forward it doesn't matter which, holding your shuriken at waist length. Take one in a pinch hold and throw it straight at the target like so." He takes a blade in his hand and effortlessly hits a bullseye.

Looks really simple. .

I take position and do as I'm told. The blade lands just next to the target. I almost had it. He tells me to try again, this time focusing on my target. It land within the target this time

"For someone who hasn't done this before, you are pretty impressive." He praises. "But impressive doesn't count. You need to be at the top of your game. Now do it again." He says

We keep practicing with the senbon shuriken until he felt it was good enough. I almost hit a bullseye once but ofcourse he won't give me any credit for that.

"Next is the hardest of them all. The bo shuriken." He picks up three of the flat pointy blades and hands me two

"I'll teach you the tatenage technique also known as the vertical throw. Just like with the senbon shuriken throwing technique, you have to have one foot stepped forward." He demonstrates and I follow his lead

"When you step, make sure your big toe, your knee and the front of your hip and shoulder make a straight line." He says aligning himself

It is much harder than it sounds. I need to work on my balance, I'm tripping over. It's like trying to learn how to ride a bicycle for the first time.

"You are not proposing to anyone. Make your leg straight as your knee bends!" He tells

I'm starting to dislike him now. The frown onmy face doesn't go unnoticed but he doesn't seem to care.

"Have the blade over your head and step to execute the throw. Your breathing should be at the same movement as your body. Inhale as you raise the weapon up, exhale as you throw it. You wanna make sure that your elbow and your middle finger are pointing directly at your target." He instructs after I get the first part right.

I take a step forward and narrow my eyes at the target, it completely misses the target and hits a window causing a small crack to appear. Randy is going to have my head!

"Oops." I let out a nervous chuckle

Yasuyuki let's out a loud sigh, pinching the bridge of his nose and looks at me through the corner of his eye. I immediately look away pretending to be fascinated by the wall art while fidgeting with my fingers

"Go get the blade and let's start again." He says annoyance clear in his voice

Well, I'm sorry sir but my aim won't be perfect anytime soon.

I get the blade and we go again. I hit a few test dolls and other objects but I get a hang of it. Not exactly hitting the target but close enough but that apparently isn't enough.

I'm beyond exhausted now,  we've been at this for hours. I've gotten pretty good at it, okay not pretty good but I'm not bad either.

"Remember your aim is not to kill, it's to distract. But instead of distracting, you are the one that's distracted. Focus girl, you can do it." He tells me

I try to clear my mind and focus on hitting my target.

"Aahh, I actually did it!" I exclaim jumping up and down

"I'll be impressed when you can do that blindfolded." Yasuyuki says with an expressionless face. My smile falls and is replaced by a frown

Oh come on. Give me a little credit here.

"Blindfolded? Did you see what I did to that doll?" I dramatically point towards the doll with a shuriken stuck in its head. "I will accidentally hit someone whilst blindfolded."

He lets out a small chuckle and goes to packing away his shuriken blades. He keeps a smirk on his wrinkly face as he does so

"Vince will be here any minute now. We'll continue next week." He says and walks out of the building leaving me alone

I sigh and take a seat on one of the chairs waiting for Vince or Jones.

Vince walks into the room looking all sweaty and out of breath.

"Ready to go?" He asks taking a water from the small fridge in the corner of the room and gulping it down

I nod my head and pick up my backpack.

"Did you have fun?" He sends me a smile

If I didn't regard Vince as my brother I would've totally hit on him. He has a smile that can make any girl melt

"Yeah I did. It was frustrating at first because I couldn't get things right but it got better with time. I still have a lot to polish up on." I shrug

"You're doing great kid." He says proudly

"Why do I need all this training though? I mean it's great and all but it's not really something I will use in the ring." My eyebrows furrow

He chuckles. "Its the boss' orders Skylar. I'm just thinking he's preparing you for whatever needs to come."

I hum in response and look out the window.

What is to come?
