🥵Candy Cane🥶: Okay.

Y/N: REALLY!!??

🥵Candy Cane🥶: I want the strawberry swirl with whipped cream and strawberry flakes but I am not giving you the answers or you won't learn anything.

I sighed. Of course, he won't just give me the answers.

~Candy Cane~
Y/N: Understandable! YOU ARE DOING A GOOD THING HERE!! YOU ARE HELPING A STRUGGLING PERSON IN NEED OF ASSISTANCE! THIS WILL BE A DAY TO REMEMBER THROUGHOUT HISTORY!

🥵Candy Cane🥶: Ok.

Seconds later my phone began to ring the caller ID read Candy Cane. I quickly picked up positioning my phone in front of me so I can see the screen.

With a few seconds, the screen lit up with Todoroki's face on it. His hair was completely messed up as if he literally just got up from bed and he had tired eyes. It was a different sight to take in from his normal well-kept look.

"Are you going to keep staring at me or are we going to work?" He asked glaring at me through the screen. I snapped out of my trance nodding quickly. "Thanks for doing this Todoroki," I said grabbing the first packet for Cementoss's class. "It's not a problem for me. However, your reckless and make decisions without thinking." He said looking directly at me. I feigned hurt, "I was defending my honor! There's no way I will allow myself to be beaten by Katsuki. That's like against the laws of nature!"

I looked at the screen waiting for a reaction from him and I was pleasantly surprised.

I saw Todoroki smile.

It was a slight smile. His lips just barely curving upward. It was barely noticeable but it was there and I saw it.

"YOU SMILED!!"

Todoroki's smile immediately vanished and returned to his usual stoic look. "C'mon smile again! Here I'll teach you. All you have to do is-" I began to say pointing at my lips. We should work on your homework now." Todoroki said quickly changing the subject. I sighed. One of these days I am going to make him laugh and forget about his pain. "If you say so..."

~Time Skip~

"I'm tired. We've been working on this for hours!" I wailed as I worked on the last question. "It's just one more," Todoroki said attempting to reassure me. He let out a slight yawn and I noticed him rubbing his thumb and his index finger through the screen. I could tell he was feeling sleepy as well. I looked at the time and it read 2 am. I'll probably only get like an hour of sleep and my quirk would not work as well but it's all worth it to see Katsuki's face in complete shock that I actually did the homework, to begin with.

"I think I can do this last one myself Todoroki. I can tell you are tired. Thank you for helping me. I didn't think it would take this long to complete."

"It's fine but that's what happens if you don't do a week's worth of work."

I sheepishly laughed. It wasn't even my fault the work didn't get done I was just... busy. I quickly finished the last question with a triumphant cheer at the victory. "OH GOD, I AM FINALLY DONE!!! IT FEELS SO GOOD! JUST FOR THIS, I AM BUYING YOU LUNCH AT SCHOOL AND GETTING YOU THAT CAKE! I would have never been able to complete this without your help." I smiled at my phone screen seeing Todoroki already sleeping on his desk. Oops.

I whispered goodnight and ended the call. I can't wait to see the look on Katsuki's face in the morning. I got ready to go to bed as I heard the door open and close. Mom must be back home. She stayed later than usual. I went to my door to go tell her to welcome her back and pretend I just woke up earlier for school when I heard quiet talking. I opened my door and started for the stairs.

"Shhhhhh! You're going to wake her up. She cannot know." I heard Mom whisper to whoever else was with her.

I stopped in my tracks. Mom had a person over.

"You have waited 10 years M/N you have to tell her. It's going to happen whether you want it to or not." the unknown person said quickly and scared.

"I still have time." I heard mom say in retaliation.

"You're running out of it quickly. They are-"

I stepped down the stairs to get a better look at the person.

Creak

Stupid stairs. The person stopped talking and I heard the door open and close within seconds.

"Y/N?" Mom called out. I've been caught. I made myself look as though I just woke up and walked down the stairs. With the best forced out yawn, I said, "Hey mom welcome home. How was work?"

"It was great hun. Just some difficult clients," as she said that her eyes darted for the door then back to me. "I brought you some apology cake while I was out. Here you go," She handed me the bag she was holding and quickly started for her bedroom, "Don't stay up too late you have school soon."

With that, she shut the door of her bedroom with a click of the lock. She was so distracted by whatever was on her mind that she didn't even lecture me for being up so late. Who was that person? I didn't recognize their voice so it's obviously someone I've never met before. They sounded scared about something and so did mom. I'll just ask her in the morning she obviously doesn't want to talk about it.

I put the treat that mom had basically shoved into my hand into the fridge for later and quickly went upstairs getting into bed and trying to sleep but I couldn't get that mysterious person's words out of my head.

Could they have been talking about my father? I shook my head no talking the thought out of my head. Mom never talked about him and Kean didn't know anything about him either. That part made a little sense. Kean was five when I was born. What didn't make sense was the timing. The unknown person said it's been 10 years. 10 years ago I was 5. All kinds of questions was rushing through my head and I wanted answers.

I twisted and turned in my bed trying to get to sleep for over an hour. There's no point in attempting to get any sleep. Each time I closed my eyes the small conversation kept replaying in my head.

I eventually closed my eyes and forced myself to get sleep. The last image in my mind was the look of Todoroki smiling for the first time.
