Kaylan sighed, rolling on her back to stare at the ceiling. She graduated from McLan University with a second class upper three years ago, served in the compulsory National Youth Service Corps and since then had been job hunting.

She was regretting not deciding to apply got her masters degree while her course mates were doing so at the time.

The truth was that having graduated with a BSc. Arts degree she didn't know what she wanted to study thereafter.

It only made sense to get a high paying job and slide into the trendy lifestyle that was expected of someone her age and status, but it didn't go the way she assumed.

Just after graduation, her father was forced to resign because of a scandal to save his reputation, which went further to soil her parents' relationship, leaving Kaylan's employment issue temporarily unimportant.

From unimportant, it had slowly grown to become a hopeless situation altogether with her parents' messy divorce.

Assets were split in half and her younger siblings were to go with her mother. Kaylan was old enough to take care of herself.

Her father's former PA had done the house search and rented a two-year tenure lease flat.

It was a basic apartment; big enough for a single girl like Kaylan and luxurious enough for a place like Abeokuta.

However, MacFarlane Estate Gardens was old money.

Kaylan scrolled through her email checking for a response to her applications. She felt disappointed that some of the top ten companies she had been rooting to work for replied.

She blinked,  but the tears came. She didn't want to feel sorry for herself. Maybe she should have followed her mother and siblings to France, but how could she have when she had gone on a trip with two of her close friends?

She had been shocked to see that an estate surveyor was just leaving the house. It wasn't supposed to be a big deal really until she saw the FOR SALE sign being hung.

Her world had crashed and her mother was snappy that day. It didn't seem right to Kaylan. Her mum and dad were supposed to stick this out.

Her father would be home alone and miserable. She was daddy's girl. It had been a bad choice.

A few months after Kaylan barged into her father's study demanding that she needed to apply for a visa, because she couldn't stand her father marry someone else, but he said he was too broke for all the tedious applications.

All his cash was on projects and investments he wasn't willing to let go of for some childish wimp.

Now, Kaylan was stuck in a one-bedroom modern apartment striving to make ends meet. Her trust fund was running out and if she couldn't pay the rent she would have to walk back to her father's house in defeat.

She went on Jobwebsearch.com again scrolling through for anything decent. It didn't matter that she wouldn't be earning 500k a month or that she might not be working in an air-conditioned office. Kaylan Kwamne needed a job and fast.
