The deal

My friend and I we have this deal
That I made long ago
She cuts I cut
I don't eat she won't
I made this deal with her thinking it'd make me stop
That I care more for her than I care for myself
And I guess she didn't feel the same
Because one day I woke up
To hear my mom yelling my name
"Alli, Alli, hurry up. Don't bother getting dressed we have to go "
She didn't explain in the car as she sped down the road
But when we got to the hospital
I should've already known
We walked inside and I saw her mom.
She was crying and sobbing
And instantly I went numb
Friend, where did you go?
Our deal was made to keep us here
"If you go , I'll follow"
We thought our friendship was strong enough
But one day I was gone
One day i stopped being there for her
And I had tons of messages
And missed calls
And her last one?
"I'm sorry and I know you won't care but I'm done. I can't take this anymore. Everyone left me and no one cares. My parents hate me and my friends are gone. You were all I had and just like I knew you always would, you left too. So goodbye, I'll see you later"
It was my fault
All me
Two parents lost their baby girl
Because I couldn't save her in time
Because I wasn't there when she needed me most
And she isn't here to know
But I plan on keeping our deal
Just when I thought I saw the sun
It turned out to be a flashlight
And that flashlights battery is about to die
