C A P I T O L O T R E N T U N O

Start from the beginning

"Damn, why don't you tell her how you feel?" I scoff as I am ahead of the game. "You're a bit late to the party, brother." I smile. Dante sips his drink with a raised eyebrow. "No wonder why Angelo is pissed all the time." He laughed, I sipped on the strong whisky, letting the strong swirl burn.

"Then why are you acting strange?" He asked. "It's strange. All of this. I feel like I won't be the perfect prince charming she used to read in those fairytale books or the perfect man in those romance books that makes her pure heart feel content. I just want to see her happy." It sounds weird how I am scared of a little emotion.

"Wow, you're whipped." He looks at me like he has seen a ghost. "But, Shira is different from the others. She was born in the mafia, she knows that there are no princes in this world. Have you ever seen her smile around you?" I was taken back and confused. "Yes?"

"Have you seen a side of her that no one else has? Have you seen her break down?" Dante lists. "Yes but why are telling me this?" I ask, setting the glass on the varnished table. "Because she trusts you, Val, Shira loves you, we can all see that." Dante explains.

"When you are not here, that girl acts how you were doing a few moments ago. She feels restless, like a part of her happiness feels taken away. Shira is like a child trying to find her missing doll when you aren't there." I feel myself grow even impatient, all I want to do right now is lift her up and kiss her hard.

"Don't even think for a second that girl doesn't think of you like a prince." Running my hand through my hair, I feel like a pain of emptiness. "Let's go home, I'm sure if you stay here a second more you might shoot an innocent person." He exaggerated.

Walking into the dining room, the smell of a roast fills the air. Leaning against the wall, I see Shira setting the table, bending over to place a plate on the opposite end. I pushed myself of the wall and positioned myself behind her. As she rose, her small figure bumped against my chest.

Stumbling, I wrapped an arm around her. "Oh, Val, you scared me!" She said, turning her face to look at me. Tired, I nuzzled myself in her neck, softly kissing a small hickey I made last night. "Val-."

"Mm, you look like a sexy leopard" I teased, proud of my victory. Turning her around, Shira's cheek became red. Lifting her chin up, I lowered my head and as I was about to kiss her, I felt someone throw punches at my hip.

Groaning, I turned to look at my brother throw aimless punches at me. "What's wrong, buddy?" I said, trying hard not to laugh. "I'm beating you up." He's throwing pretty hard puches, I'll give him that. "I can see that. But, what have I done buddy?" He continues

"Angelo, what are you doing?" Lorena said, coming in with a pot of boiled vegetables. Laughing, I placed my hand on his head, pushing him away, whilst he still pushed forwards like a bull. "Quit fighting, buddy, I'm stronger than you." I scoffed.

"You might be stronger than me, but, you are a terrible person!" He exclaimed, furrowing his eyes. "What are you talking about?" Lorena smiled.  Angelo narrowed his eyes into slits and stormed over to Shira, lifting his arms up.

Shira lifted him up and placed him on her hip. "Amore mio, are you ok?" Angelo asked, cupping her face and kissing her cheek. Shira smiled and nodded confusingly. Angelo was seriously getting too attached with Shira.

"What happened, amour?" Shira cooed. Now, I was getting jealous. Angelo changed his facial expression once he turned to look at me. "You're a bad boyfriend!" He exclaimed, pointing his little finger at me.

"Shira has had rashes on her neck for ages and you haven't kissed them better! You don't take care of her. Her lips are no longer rosey." Angelo sulked as her looked at Shira. Trying so hard not to laugh, I smirked at Shira, who was blushing like crazy.

Hearing gasps, from behind, I remembered there were other people present in the room. Until a familiar voice made my heartbeat even faster. "BOYFRIEND!" I turned to be met with both me and Shira's parents looking at me. Cazzo!
