57. Sleep by Starlight

The little girl slides the balcony door open just enough to slip through, her worn blanket trailing behind her. The crisp midnight air prickles her skin, but she doesn't care.

She looks up at the sky and smiles when she sees the North Star between the two clumps of clouds. "Hi, again. It's me. I can't fall asleep," she whispers.

A sudden warm breeze tickles her ears. She sits in the plastic patio chair and wraps herself with her blanket. Then, she looks up again.

In the world above the clouds, the Stars dance for her until she finally drifts to sleep.
