21. Taking Back Control

I look out through the rear window. The streets are either familiar or so common that nothing seems out of the ordinary. All except for the grayish tint, even in the trees that line the road.

I'm in the car alone. But I'm in the back.

There's no one driving the car.

It's swerving into the other lane, heading straight for another car.

I scramble to unbuckle myself and climb over the center console, taking the steering wheel in my hand before maneuvering myself onto the driver's seat.

I press down on the brakes. The rubber screech fills my head.

Just before probable impact, I wake up.
