Ch. 65 - SAID THE SPIDER TO THE FLY

Start from the beginning

"Got everything?" Charles asked as Odette zipped up her suitcase, she pursed her lips and glanced around at her three suitcases and a few boxes before nodding. "I think I got enough. At least for the first semester, if not I can always come back during Christmas break and bring more stuff back with me." She said and he nodded slightly.

"You sure you dont want me to come with you? Or maybe go to a school near here? A pretty foreign girl alone in such a busy state like New York can be scary." Charles said worriedly and Odette chuckled and shook her head slightly, "A pretty foreign girl whose also a Werewolf and a Witch. I think I'll be okay, Charles." She said and he sighed softly and nodded.

"I guess it does help that you could also always say your boyfriend is training to be an FBI Agent. And New York is only a couple states away from Virginia, so you'll probably be able to see Stiles every now and then." He said and she smiled and nodded. It was quiet for a few seconds until Charles spoke up again.

"You sure you wanna go to New York alone?" He asked making her laugh and look at him, "Charles, I have to be on my own eventually. And plus, you let me move to another country without out. Why is a different state so bad?" She asked and he raised his eyebrows. "Uh- because you moved to a different country with your uncle and cousin. But now you're moving to one of the most populated states by yourself." He said and she squinted slightly.

"California is more populated than New York." She said making him roll his eyes slightly, "Yes but the difference is you're not living in California alone like you would be in New York." He said and she looked at him amused. "Charles, I'll be fine. And if it makes you feel any better then I'll call or text you every day once I leave." She said and he sighed and nodded.

"I guess that's better than nothing." He said before walking over to her and pulling her into a tight hug. "I'm proud of you just so you know. And I'm 1000% sure that Grant is proud of you as well." He said making her smile softly, "My god daughter is gonna be a nurse." He said dramatically making her laugh.

Scott and Melissa are in the hospital morgue, where he is showing her a large taser-wand that he has obtained so that she can use it to protect herself when he's at college. He flicks it out and presses the button, causing blue electrical currents to flicker along the outside of it. Melissa looks alarmed as she sighs exhaustedly.

"Eight-hundred thousand volts? Sounds pretty dangerous." She said making him sigh softly before handing the taser to her, "Just use it on me." He said. Odette, who was sitting at one of the tables filling some papers out, set down her pen and watched in amusement as Melissa gives Scott a look.

"I'll be okay, I promise." He said reassuringly and Melissa scoffs in disbelief, but does as she's told and takes the taser wand before standing to her feet. Odette watches in amusement as Scott bounces on the balls of his feet for a moment as he psychologically and physically prepares himself before he growls under his breath and lunges for Melissa, who just shoves the tip of the taser right in the center of his chest. But, it does nothing to harm him whatsoever, and Scott looks down at the wand against his chest in confusion before looking back up at his mother.

"You know you have to hold the button down for it ti actually be effective, right?" Odette asked making Melissa roll her eyes in exasperation and holds the wand out to her side before pressing the button, causing the taser to spark with electricity, albeit nowhere near Scott's body. "I'm going to be fine, guys. And, if something happens, I will call Liam." She said as she hands Scott the taser wand.

"But what if he's not around?" He asked and Melissa laughs incredulously and looks at the taser, "You think that this thing is gonna protect me? I'm a nurse- stun baton isn't my thing." She said glancing at Odette while Scott frowns in confusion. "You have a thing?" He asked and Melissa nodded, "Sort of."
