Who was that Greek bishop of Myra?
Was he the gift giver of Western lore?
Did he attend the Council of Nicaea?
How did he become Father Christmas?
Where did this Santa Claus come from?
We have to go back to folklore and tradition
The idea exploded from European practices
Of gift giving and Christian celebrations
But it's all based on the birth of a baby
In what has been called the Holy Land
How did this momentous event
End up with a white bearded guy
Dressed in an outlandish red suit
Embossed with white fur
Sitting in mall to allow children
To ask him for gifts that will be
Provided by their parents?
The logic is lost here
But it will never fade
I should know
I was one before
A hidden Santa!
