Flowers

He said he wanted to build a house.
He said he wanted to have a home.
He started it all over again,
But didn't complete it in time.

Death descended quickly,
His life gone one afternoon.
Everyone was surprised by the sudden news,
But we had all worried that it would happen,
At least at one point in our thoughts...

He left us so suddenly,
It was almost like a joke.
Almost like we'd see him the next day...

But then the days kept coming,
And soon his funeral drew up.
It was small,
And then it was over.

Just like that.

And just like that,
The home he was building
The house he had roofed
Had all come to a standstill.

The flowers,
Those beautiful flowers he had planted,
Bloomed after he left.
To this day,
We look at those vivid violets,
Brilliant reds,
Eye-catching yellows,
And wish he could see their beauty.

We miss him,
But I think those seeds he planted
That matured into beautiful flowers...
I think they miss him more.
They shine but I am pretty sure they would shine more
If he was still here with us.

He went to rest,
And we pray for him whenever we can.
We hope he found peace,
And the rest he needed.
