It's 4pm. I have been sitting in my room all day. I don't know what to do with myself.
How could I have dreamt a whole day? I suppose its possible, but it all felt so real.
And didn't I dream yesterday when I supposedly passed out in the garden? That's right, I remembered my mum.
I can't just sit here, I am going to ask Anthony more about it.
I try and leave my room, but the door won't open. I pull harder, but it just won't budge.
They have locked me in.
But why though? I haven't done anything.
Unless they are trying to stop me from doing something.
I hear a sudden knock on the door which makes me jump.
I am about to answer, when I hear voices further away.
"Hey! What are you doing?" Someone asks, with a certain level of aggression in his voice.
"I just wanted to ask her something." I recognize the voice; its Ahren.
"Well clear off! She is in detention for today."
I am in detention?? What have I done to deserve this?
I start banging on the door with my fist.
"Detention includes silence!" The man shouts from outside.
Then I hear him trying to usher Ahren back into his room.
Something odd is going on here. Either I am imagining everything, or they really are lying to me.
I wait til morning to have my questions answered. I try the door first thing, but its not open. So I decide to have a shower and put on some fresh plain white clothes; which is all I have to wear in my tiny wardrobe.
Once the morning has brightened up a bit, I try the door again. And to my surprise, it was open.
I head for Anthony's office. I feel like I have to creep through the corridors, since it is usually quiet. The odd scream comes from another side of the building, but for some reason it doesn't bother me as much as it did when I heard it before.
I knock on Anthony's door. There is no answer. So I decide to go in.
I look around at things, its a tidy office. Typical doctor's stuff everywhere.
I see the bag he had in my room yesterday, so I decide to see what he has in it.
Stethoscope, a heart rate monitor, syringe, some weird mask attached to I have no idea what, and some...cream.
I look at the cream bottle closer. "Cools and makes rashes disappear instantly..." It reads.
I look at my hand. The rash...
I suddenly hear someone coming along the corridor so I rush to put the bag back the way i found it.
Anthony walks in, he looks a little astonished to see me.
"You're here...Why?" He questions suspiciously.
"I um...wanted to see you...I just got here. I have some questions."
I see a sense of apprehension flash in his eyes, but he gestures for me to sit with him.
"Go on." He says with a smile.
"Thank you, I just have to ask...was I in detention yesterday?"
No emotion change in his face, "where did you hear that?"
So you aren't denying it.
"I heard somebody talking about me outside my room yesterday. I couldn't even get out of my room because it was locked."
He nods slowly, as if he is trying to come up with something to say.
"Well remember the day before yesterday?"
You and I apparently remember that day very differently.
"Yes." I say anyway.
"Well, you passed out remember?"
Yes, but you said I didn't.
"But you said it was a part of my dream."
"Well yes, but not exactly. That night, you were sleep walking, doing some strange things and trying to escape from here. So yesterday you were in detention, in case."
Nice save, Anthony.
"So, is that why you were in my room when I woke up yesterday?" I act like I believe him.
"Exactly. See? Its not all that confusing once you get the answers."
I smile and nod. "Well thank you for answering my question. I'll be going back to my room now."
"I thought you had more questions?"
"Nope. You've cleared everything up for me, thank you so much." I say and leave.
So I think I have narrowed one thing down; Anthony is lying to me. I don't know why, or how he is doing it, but he seems to come up with the best cover-up stories I have ever heard.
I have to find Ahren.
