A YEAR LATER – APRIL 14 – DAY BEFORE WEDDING

AMBER P.O.V. –

We decided to wait until April 15,  a day that was special to both of us to have the wedding. In between that time, Trav and Stac moved to L.A.. Stac was from L.A. so she wanted to be closer to her family, especially since her father died. And it was the perfect move for Travis to pursue his acting career.

Trav hasn’t got any big parts yet, but he’s signed with an agent and has made brief appearances in a couple of television shows. He’s a little disappointed but as we told him, it’s a process. He’ll get there if he keeps working.

We stayed in Philly for about a four months, but with nobody there besides us, it got a little rough. So, we packed up and moved back to Atlanta. Jeremy gave August a generous parting gift, and he was able to open his own office in Atlanta.

Word has spread tremendously about August in Atlanta. Specifically, about how creative his office is. Which yes, I designed so I get all the credit.

Going to the dentist is hard for anyone, but specifically children. Since August’s focus is children, he tries to make it an overall experience. We came up with a plan to make it into a tropical jungle.

We have a slide for the kids, animals all around, and from time to time we have Benny the Giraffe (who is Sneak – he hates it though), take pictures with the kids after they prove they are big girls and big boys, after they see Dr. Alsina. It’s become a hot spot for celebrities to bring their kids, generating you guessed it, even more revenue than we could imagine.

August gave Sneak a job as the receptionist and he is paying for him to go back to school to be August’s Dental Nurse. He has one more year left before graduation, and August said if he was interested in becoming an actual Dentist, he’d pay for that too.

They seem to work nicely together. And it’s given Sneak a direction he never thought he’d pursue. He never thought school was for him, until he actually tried it. At the rate he’s going he just might become that Dentist.

Dan moved down here to be with Cha and the girls. They weighed it would be too much to just up and move the girls from their school and friends, so they decided to just stay here. And together Dan and I created the Nathaniel Parker Suicide Prevention Center. It houses his non-profit that he moved from Philly to Atlanta, as well as other mental health services to serve the public. It is such a phenomenal thing to be able to give back like that, and to do it honor Nate.

We were able to open the center with a generous grant from the Governor and his new wife (inserts eye roll here), you already know who that is.

And as for me what do I do now, I know you want to know. I am a criminal law professor at Emory. I prefer that as to opposed to an all out legal career, because it allows me time to be a Mommy and wife (soon to be tomorrow of course). I don’t have to get stressed out over cases, I can just show up, teach, give my students all I have to give, and come home to my hubby and my beautiful daughter.

Well moreso, my beautiful daughter because my husband (soon to be tomorrow of course) is always working. *Le sigh*  one of the downsides of having an in demand pediatric dentist as your significant other.

Even today, as of six o’clock this evening August is working. Although our wedding is tomorrow. His thing is this, “I’ve worked so hard to get to this space, I’m going to give it all I have.” That whole I don’t get tieedmentality he has now really gets on my nerves.
