"Your mom is nice" I say as Houston drives down the road

As I stare out the window I intake my surroundings,  the Connecticut tall, green tress touched  the sky that is painted an orange with a tint of pink from the sun setting. It was such a beautiful sight and I was okay with never looking away.

"Yea" He replies making sure not to take his eyes off the road he seemed as if he were in deep thought as well

I take my eyes off the amazing view to look at Houston, I waited for him to say something else, I waited for him to vent his feelings to me about his brother and why he seems so dismissive towards his mother, but he said nothing. What should have I expected? The brief silence between us killed me, I wish he could tell me what he was thinking.

"Are you taking me home?" I ask breaking the silence

"Yes you have a long day tomorrow" Houston says bluntly

I feel my lips turn into a frown "I don't want you to go yet"

Houston half smiled and placed his hand on my lap "Then I won't go I'll stay with you in your dorm for a little"

"Emma is going to be there if you don't mind"

Houston shrugged his shoulders "As long as I am with you"

I was surprised to see that Emma wasn't here when we entered my dorm room. She couldn't have been at a party we have school tomorrow so I decide to send her a text to see where she was. I kick off my shoes and lay down on my bed and Houston does the same.

I prop my head on my hand and face Houston while he laid on his back looking at the ceiling

"Thank you for staying" I say

"I honestly didn't want to leave you either but I needed to get you out of that house" He explains

"If you didn't want me there than why did you bring me?" I asked

Houston flipped over to his side to look at me "It's not that I didn't want you there because I did, I wanted to show you a big part of my life and it were those paintings, painting, drawing it is part of me and the best way to explain that to you was to just show you"

I am glad Houston was telling me this, I am always eager to know any little thing about him good or bad. Even if he did anything bad I don't think that would stop me from wanting to be near him, he wrapped his arms around my wast and pulled me into his chest and I found myself slipping my leg between his.

"Thank you for showing me, you are so talented" I whisper since our faces are practically touching each other

Houston kissed the top of my head and began to smooth the top of my hair I waited for him to say something, anything but he didn't "Can I ask you something ?" I ask

"You and your questions Vally" He mocks

I ignore him comment "You and your brother.. you guys seem not to get along" I hope Houston doesn't get mad but I can't help but ask

"That's not a question Vally"

I sigh "Fine, why don't you and your brother get along ?"

"He's not a good person" Houston states gently pulling down a string of my curly hair  then letting it jump back in its natural state he's amused as he continues this pattern

"Why do you say that"

"Vally I don't want to talk about Ryder" He says calmly still entertaining himself with my curly hair
