Each House represents one part of the full witch or wizard - Thunderbird is the Soul, Wampus the Body, Horned Serpent the Mind, and Pukwudgie the Heart. Each of these has many other meanings attached to it.

Thunderbird/Soul - spirituality, facing "human" shortcomings and finding your purpose on Earth, growing the soul, tackling personal demons with the improvement of the soul

Wampus/Body - physicality, facing physical shortcomings and issues, training and honing the body, tackling personal demons with the improvement of the body

Horned Serpent/Mind - mentality, facing mental shortcomings and imperfections, strengthening the mind, tackling personal demons with the improvement of the mind

Pukwudgie/Heart - emotionality, facing emotional shortcomings and trials, changing the heart to fit the circumstances, tackling personal demons with the improvement of the heart

However, despite what many may think there is a reason for the Houses apart from bringing similar people together. Actually, it's just the opposite. True perfection comes when one improves everything about themselves - the soul, the body, the mind, and the heart.

This is why students are encouraged to become friends with those from other Houses, backgrounds, and skillsets. Students can help each other become their best selves in every aspect. It does not do to be only emotional, only physical, only spiritual, or only mental - one must be all four.
