THE DEAL
CHAPTER EIGHT

mackenzie

"jack?!" i replied in otter shock.

"can we talk now?" i slowly nodded. i guess it was time. i can't run away forever.

we talked, like you know, catching up.

"so you're dating johnny." he says. i paused, i couldn't say he cheated.

"yes."

"why are you dating him?!" jack yelled

"what do you mean?" i yelled back, "is it so unbelievable that a guy like him would date me?"

"you're the innocent girl. he's the jock. so... YES" jack exclaimed in a duh voice.

i got up, "fine. if you don't accept my relationship, then we can't be friends anymore." i started walking.

"wait!" i faced him.

"do you mean the letter?" oh great.

i shook my head, "i don't know. no. that was 9th grade. i was stupid. it's old."

"well, it's new to me! now what do you think i should do?"

"i don't know, maybe ignore it and don't tell anyone?" i hinted maddie. he got it. cause if he told maddie, she would never forgive me.

"maddie's not talking to me anymore! and how am i suppose to ignore it?"

"this is why we're not talking. it's too awkward. we can't be friends anymore." i shook my head, walking backwards.

"so we're not friends just like this? i can't believe i lost both zieglers" i ignored him, running back to the school.

while i was running to my class, lauren saw me.

"hey!" she grabs my hand gently.

"hey laur."

"i'm sorry about my brother. you don't deserve being treated like that." lauren says apologetically.

"it's fine." i softly smiled. we walked to class together. johnny was standing by his locker, grabbing his books when he saw me. he stopped, then gazed at me. i stared back, but for only a second before looking away and walking to class.

we all sat in a circle in lauren's room. they all eventually forgave johnny after i left because he was truly sorry and stuff. plus, they're his  best friends. we still weren't on speaking terms. whenever i see him, he would always stare at me, not paying attention to anyone else. i acted like i didn't care even though i truly did.
