(FLASHBACK)

She could never finish listening to a song; she would skip and skip after listening to her favorite part. Rarely she would stop on one that she would listen to completely and on those occasions she would probably even play it again a few times.

He remembered watching her countless of times reaching over for the volume dial on her car, turning the volume so loud that you could feel the bass and drum as well as the beat of your heart.

It was in those blissful moments when the wind blew in her hair, her eyes lighted up with life as she screamed out the lyrics to her favorite songs.

Ashton loved to watch her…

He remembered perfectly how her hair would always smell like coconut when it blew in the wind. He remembered the salty beach air as it blew inside of the car as they rode down the busy streets of Venice beach.

He had memorized every one of her moves, those instant moments she would close her eyes or drum against the steering wheel. Every dance move or side glance she shot at him. Every giggle or the way she bit her tongue or lip whenever she tried to hold back a grin.

Ashton had lived for those small moments when the two of them could just be alone together; those moments where he could simply be himself, all of him. Every time he went to work, he kept wishing it was time to see her again.

And every night after they would leave to their separate rooms they would spent hours texting each other, sending each other links to funny videos or silly selfies until one of them gave up and they truly had to wish each other a good night. But even then he couldn’t wait for morning to come again so they could spend some more time together.

For the tenth time that day, he watched her as she reached forward to skip yet another song in the playlist he had prepared for her. He had spent hours the night before going through his iTunes library in order to find any songs he thought she might enjoy or know.

Calum had teased him about getting too involved and that all of this would bite him in the ass but Ashton had assured him that he knew what he was doing. That he simply enjoyed her love of music. Now he knew it was much more than that.

“Are you going to skip all of them?” He asked her with a teasing grin as he reached over and turned down the volume so she could hear his words over the music and the roaring wind.

“I’m just impatient and want to know what the next one is!” She insisted, pouting a little before she shot him another sideway glance. “Does it bother you?”

“Not at all.” Ashton assured her, his hand easily crossing the space that separated them so he could place his hand around hers. He found himself smiling when her hand returned the gesture and gave his the slightest of squeezes.

“This was a terrible idea! We are never going to find a place to park my car. Seems like everyone in Los Angeles decided to come to Venice Beach today!” She ranted, her eyebrows creasing even underneath the big Ray Ban sunglasses she was wearing (which were actually his since she had forgotten her own in their rush to leave the hotel).

“You’re getting really impatient again.” He teased.

“And you’re not helping.” She stated but even though her tone was harsh she was fighting a smile as she glanced his way.
