Merlyn had thought about the dragon's words and her predicament all the way back to her chambers, even when she was dodging the guards. It was true that the king's heart was stone and virtually no one could touch it but Merlyn could think of two people that had a chance. Only two. But that was more than enough. She just had to check with Gaius to see if her theory was indeed correct.

Upon entering the chambers, Merlyn found Gaius in the seat she had occupied early reading one of his many books. As she entered, he lifted his head and looked eagerly towards her, hoping she had the answer they desperately craved. After all the troll had the king raise the tax for the people once again and they all knew that it was only the start.

"The dragon said he had to cry tears of true remorse to break the enchantment" Merlyn explained as she got to Gaius' side.

"Well, that's not going to be easy. Uther's heart's closed to everyone" Gaius said.

"That's what I thought until I remembered two people in particular" Merlyn said. "Arthur and Morgana." Uther cared for no one more than he cared for them, Arthur was his only child and heir whilst Morgana was his ward. His heart was not closed to them, even when enchanted. Though Merlyn would argue that Arthur had a stronger hold over Uther than Morgana purely because Arthur was Uther's flesh and blood, he was his legacy. Gaius looked away thoughtfully for a moment, contemplating Merlyn's words.

"Then there's only one course of action we can take" Gaius announced as he looked back at Merlyn and got to his feet. Thankfully, he had a plan. "Uther must see his son die." Merlyn gasped. She did not like that plan at all.

Why Gaius had jumped straight to killing Arthur was beyond the witch but once he had explained it, the theory had made sense. Now Merlyn just had to convince the prince of that as well. Night had fallen and Merlyn was able to move around the castle much more easily. Knowing the prince well enough she knew he would only really be going to sleep now. Creeping her way to his chambers, Merlyn was able to silently enter his chambers undetected. She swiftly found her prince lying in his bed with the candles distinguished. Moving across the floor, Merlyn once again climbed up onto Arthur's bed. The prince lazily rolled over with a smile adorning his face at the sight of the witch. He momentarily forgot what had occurred over the last two days, the sight of the troll had been plaguing his mind but Merlyn's mere presence made him forget his trouble even if it was only for a moment.

"Merlyn" Arthur said with a lazy smile.

"Hey Arthur" Merlyn replied as she crawled over to him. Whilst Arthur stayed laying on his back, Merlyn moved so that she was hovering over him.

"Though I'm happy to see you in my bed, why are you in my bed?" Arthur asked as he lifted his hand and tucked a strand of loose hair behind her ear.

"Well you see ..." Merlyn started with a smile on her face that quickly turned into a smirk. "Your stepmother is a troll." Arthur groaned at the words, he didn't need reminding.

"If you say 'I told you s—" Arthur started with his eyes narrowed at her. He didn't want to hear it but he knew Merlyn well enough to know what was coming.

"I told you so" Merlyn interrupted straight away. She was taking no prisoners. "And now I'm going to fix this mess you've made." At that news, Arthur perked up, a sight Merlyn spotted. She knew he was waiting for her to come up with something. Though she couldn't blame him, he was in an impossible position to fight Catrina. There was nothing he could do especially with the king enchanted or so he thought.

"How?" Arthur asked eagerly. Merlyn was surprised by his eagerness, he was more than willing to listen to her plan, he really must have been worried. He must have felt lost.
