Chapter Twenty-Three - Graduation Dinner

Today was the day I would most likely trip as I walk across that large stage. Today I would be graduating alongside some of my trusted friends, Alice, Monica, and Amy. Not to mention I would see a few familiar faces like Alexander and Piper.

But there is one person in particular that I am the most excited to share this accomplishment with, my parents. Only because I know that they wouldn't only be proud of the fact that I graduated in the top ten of my class but also because of how far I've come as a person. I'm sure they're looking down from the grand sky above with nothing but love and hopefully pride as I've done my best to make them proud.

But because my parents couldn't share this moment with me physically, I have others I can share the happiness I do feel with such as my aunt, my uncle, my cousin, and my favorite monster- Russell.

It's really all about the people you surround yourself with that can either make or break a moment as big as this. But I know that the people I have by my side are nothing but loving and supporting, and for that, I will always be grateful.

"Jane are you ready yet?" Cece called out to me as I made my way down the stairs.

I was wearing a light blue dress with some silver heels. My makeup was done in a natural way as my graduation was during the day and I didn't feel the need to do too much. Just a little goes a long way for me.

"You look great sweetie." My uncle Robin called out to me as his smile matched that of everyone else's.

My cap and gown were a light silver, all the girls would be wearing the same one whereas the guys would be wearing a dark royal blue. The school's colors were represented by us, the students of course.

I personally think the royal blue looks great on Russell but he doesn't seem to care too much about it as I do. The color makes the specks of green in his eyes pop-out even more than they already do.

Speaking of Russell, we would be meeting with him and his brother at the event. Evan didn't mind as he was more than curious to meet my family from how I spoke of them to be. I'm sure Jennifer doesn't mind as much either as we've grown a bit closer due to the learning sessions from her friend Austin.

She's not as heartless or rude as she came off to be in the beginning. She's just a little rough around the edges but it balances it out between her and Evan as Evan is more relaxed and energetic. She tends to have a more serious demeanor almost like Russell.

I guess opposites really do attract, huh?

"You ready to go?" Sam asked and I smiled as I gave a slight nod.

The four of us filed out of the house after taking a few pictures. The car ride was filled with different conversations about different things. One of them being my future as it was still a malleable subject.

Within a few short minutes, we arrived at the school where the graduation ceremony would be taking place. Everyone was dressed up as most people's gowns, including my own, were still to be zipped.

My eyes scanned through the crowd hoping to catch him first before Russell could catch me. But to my luck his presence had yet to be felt, a disappointment indeed.

"If you're looking for me then you should already know that big crowds aren't my thing." Russell's smirk was most definitely present on his lips as I could feel his familiar high-and-mighty attitude coming from behind me.

I turned around and indeed there it was, his smirk was spread across his lips. Next to Russell was his brother and Jennifer, who looked really cute as they matched.
