As soon as Harry dropped me off back home later that day, the first thing I did was call Alison. I had gotten multiple texts from bother her and Adam throughout the day and I felt bad for going M.I.A. on them so I felt as though I should let them know I’m still alive.

I ran up the stairs, yelling a quick hello to my mom and Jacquelyn who were in the kitchen, and went up to my room, shutting the door behind me. I sprawled out on my bed and quickly dialed Alison’s number. She picked up on the first ring.

“Riley Chase Jones, where the heck have you been all day? I almost called the cops to go track you down!” she exclaimed.

“I have a good excuse, I promise!” I said, defending myself.

          “Yeah? Then explain.”

“I was with Harry.” I started out.

“No wonder!” she said. She almost sounded angry.

“That’s not all of it! He asked me out today.” I said with a smile.

It was silent on the other end of the phone for about five seconds before a high pitched squeal escaped the receiver. I pulled the phone away from my ear, in fear that she would burst my eardrum.

“Okay, you’re forgiven! Oh my gosh I can’t believe he asked you out!” she squealed, “How did he do it?”

So I went into story mode, telling her how he picked me up this morning and took me to iHop for breakfast and then afterwards, took me to the park where he serenaded me and then asked me to be his girlfriend. In all honesty, I melted right then and there when he started singing to me. There’s something about his singing that can make practically any girl melt.

“Aww! I’m so happy for you!” she gushed.

          “Thank you.” I smiled.

“Now do you think you could do something for me? Since you know you left me hanging all day.” She said playfully.

“I thought I was forgiven for that!”

“You are! But can you please do something for me?” she begged.

          I sighed. “Yes?”

“Can you ask Louis if he likes me?”

“Judging by the way you guys were making out in the theater the other day, I’m pretty sure everyone on the planet knows.” I chuckled.

“But I want to know if he actually does like me.” She whined.

“Okay, I’ll ask; just for you.”

“Thank you!” she exclaimed; “now you might want to call Adam. He’s been going crazy since you haven’t talked to us all day.”

“I’ll call him,” I laughed, “bye Ali!”

“Peace out!” she laughed, before hanging up.

My best friend was so weird. After she hung up, I dialed Adam’s number, not bothering to go to my contacts list seeing as I know both his and Alison’s number by heart. He also answered on the first ring.

“Thank God, you’re alive!” he breathed a sigh of relief.

“I don’t talk to both you and Alison all day and suddenly I’m dead?” I chuckle.

“Well it’s not like you to disappear on us like that!”

          “I’m sorry! I promise I have a good reason.

          “Spill.”

“Well I was with Harry and-” he cut me off by groaning.

“Let me finish! I was with Harry and he asked me out.” I smiled again.

Silence once again greeted me but this time; no girly squeal emerged from the other end. At first I thought we had been disconnected but it said he was still there.

          “Adam?” I asked.

          “I’m here.” He almost whispered.

“Are you okay?” I hesitantly asked.

“I’m fine. I’m happy for you, Riles. But I um, I have to go so I’ll see you at school tomorrow, okay? Later.” He said, hanging up before I could even say bye.

          What was his problem?

Harry’s P.O.V.

I barged through the front door of mine and Lou’s apartment and ran into his room where he was sprawled out on his bed, watching some movie. When I ran in, he jumped about a foot in the air and the drink he was holding flew into the air and came splashing down on him.

“What the heck, Harry?” he demanded.

“I did it Lou!” I shouted.

“Did what? Got a haircut?” he grumbled.

“What? No, never! I asked Riley to be my girlfriend!” I exclaimed.

That got his attention. His head snapped up and his eyes met my excited expression on my face which I’m pretty sure looked like a little kids on Christmas morning. He jumped out of bed and ran over and engulfed me in a bear hug.

“My little Hazza has grown up!” he pretended to sob, still hugging me.

I chuckled, patting his head. “I guess you could say that.”

He pulled away and looked me over. “Do not replace me, young man!” he said in a fatherly tone.

          “I won’t, I won’t!” I laugh.

“You better not!” he smiled, pointing a finger at me.

I held my hands up in defense mode. “I promise.”

Adam’s P.O.V.

I felt bad for hanging up on her like that, I really did. But was she seriously going to date someone like Harry? Harry who, I will admit, I did my full research on. He had a reputation for being a player, for dating older women and for kissing random girls when he’s drunk. Okay, maybe that was only once but it still happened. Who knows what else he’s done when the paparazzi wasn’t looking?

I sighed and rolled over on my side. On my bedside table was a picture of Alison, Riley, and I. Riley being in the middle. We were at the park on the slide. We all wanted to go down it at the same time and that’s exactly what we did. So Alison pulled out her camera that she always carries around, claiming that this was a Hallmark moment. I had my huge arms wrapped around both of them, all of us smiling like idiots. I found myself smiling at the memory of this day.

Riley couldn’t know how I felt. She just couldn’t.
