Chapter 1: A New Beginning

          Firestar squirmed in his nest, disoriented. He could hear two mewling voices beside him his littermates, he suspected. He managed to crack open his eyes and was greeted by the dim light of a nursery. 

          "Redhawk look," a soft, gentle voice whispered, "Firekit has already opened his eyes!" Firestar found himself feeling safe and warm where he lay, blinking and adjusting to the atmosphere. When his eyes finally adjusted he peered around. 

          He peered around the room and landed first on the silver she-cat curled around him. Her bright blue eyes gazed at him with pride and love. The look of a mother. A yawn escaped him and despite his curiosity, he found himself drifting asleep. Ferocious leader aside, he was a kit who needed his sleep.

          His littermates were by far the best thing about being reborn. His sister, Tinykit, was cheerful and happy despite being born blind as can be. Her white and silver fur combined with cloudy blue eyes made her practically glow. His brother, a curious and troublesome cat, was the gold to her silver. Golden eyes matching golden fur. 

          "Firekit, Sunkit why don't you go meet some cats." Mistdrops said to her young kits. They'd been cramped in the nursery for a whole moon now and were all buzzing with excitement to be outside, except for Firekit. The young kit was extraordinarily calm for his age. He was curious, yes, and he did not lack opinions. But he seemed content with his place in life thus far. 

          Firekit looked at Sunkit, silently asking his brother if he wanted to explore outside. Sunkit smiled widely,

         "what are we waiting for! Let's go!" He squealed. Both kits rushed out of the nursery, their sister opting to stay beside Mistdrop. The queen in question shook her head with a chuckle as she watched her two sons.

          As Firekit and Sunkit rushed from the nursery they found themselves bumping into the legs of an orange and white she-cat. 

          "Woah," she chuckled, "what's the rush?" Her voice was playful and kind. Firekit looked up at the warrior apologetically. 

         "Sorry," he mewled, his voice meek, "me and Sunkit wanted to explore." He explained. The she-cat chuckled, 

          "Well Mistdrop sure has some adventurous kits!" The warrior talks as though she's unsurprised by this fact. "I'm Copperbee, if you want, I'll give you a tour of the camp," she offered. 

         Sunkit nodded so fast Firestar thought his head might fall off. Copperbee smiled and started toward one of the dens, beckoning with her tail for the kits to follow.

          "This is the medicine den, Leafdrop lives here," she stated. The tour continued on throughout the whole camp. Needless to say, Sunkit was super excited. Not much had changed since Firekit's first life and he found himself rather underwhelmed. Instead, he watched the warriors milling around the camp. He sniffed around and tried to pair certain scents to certain cats.

          Another moon soon passed and Firekit was sitting outside the nursery with Sunkit and Tinykit when Mistdrop's panicked meow rang through the clearing,

          "Leafdrop!" Bluestream is kitting!" Firekit felt a rush of excitement. Finally, Sandstorm was joining him. He knew she wouldn't be able to interact for a bit, and play for even longer. But he would be happy just seeing her pale fur once more.
