Night Time In The Morning

Each night I brave the tough streets

Seeking solace from my sleeplessness

Each morning I find a warm place

Good friend jokes and breakfast

Each day comes my brain is tired and I look through red eyes

At what I must remember isn't mine

I wish I could have found love in my early days sought out happiness

Now the young ones call me middle aged as the fire slowly burns out

Find me a new way a way a way to brave the drawbacks

Travel far away into a new place that doesn't judge us all like this

What good does it to seek out weakness and insult it seems something

That we all do

I love the night time no one sees you we all melt into the back drop

Even here where women walk the night and teenagers drunk on steroids

It holds out hope for me I will find the right one

Though really many years have passed

The right ones are all married to

The ones who got attention in our younger days

I was too afraid

Too afraid

To think I had something

To offer them

Now I walk out

In search of breakfast

In a lousy

Part of town

And years

Go by

Why

I

Have

To

Die?

Night comes

Finding me awake hungry lonely

What does the night mean to your soul

Darkness

To my whole

Hole in the darkness seeking hunger

Smell of lilacs venture out live the night

Or. Face. The day.

My feet hurt I don't want to walk this far

Only one place

Understands

The soul of a poet

A hungry poet

A few eggs too many potatoes

Bacon

Sliding

Down whole

Lost most of my teeth

Can't chew the damn bacon

Runny eggs

In the night morning

Waiting

For

Lost teeth

To

Grow back

As

My novel sits

Unfinished

On the way home my only friends

Are rabbits

Bouncing like poems facing facing
