CHAPTER 19: WHITE FEATHERS

"A date?" I asked.
"Yeah," Griffin whispered. "I want to take you to a date."
I swallowed. He pointed at a park.
"Central Park?" I read the sign.
He grabbed my arm and ran towards the park.

We sat down on the grass. The wind blew through my hair and I felt like I was flying. I let go of his hand to scratch my back.
"I told you to not let go." he whispered in my ear.
I felt chills run down my spine.

I closed my eyes and pictured a picnic basket and started to draw in the air. Griffin looked at me like I was crazy.
"What are you doing?" he asked. I ignored him then opened my eyes and blew on the air and a picnic basket showed up.
"Whoa!" Griffin exclaimed. "How'd you do that?"
I smiled. "It's my magic."

I opened the picnic basket but there was nothing in it.
"Magic, huh?" he joked.
I poked him in the belly.
"Stop that," he said.
"No food?" a voice from a far said.
I looked towards me and cupped my eyes to block the sun's blinding shine. It was that Renee girl again.

Griffin turned his head to the side and hid behind my back.
"What are you doing here?" I asked.
"I brought some food." she said as she handed me a picnic basket.
"Take it," Griffin whispered.
I took a deep breath and took the basket.
"Thanks and get lost." said Griffin.
I chuckled on the look on Renee's face as she left.

He came out from behind my back and started to play with my hair.
"What was that about?" I asked.
"She's," he began. "I don't know."
I opened my mouth to talk but he suddenly kissed me in the cheek.

I felt fireworks above my head as my heart started to pound faster. I can feel my blood boiling.

He rested his head on my shoulder.
"View's great, isn't it?" he said pointing at the skies. "Heaven looks beautiful here at the mortal world."
"Yeah, beautiful." I said as I looked at him. "Beautiful."
