(Taylor’s POV)

“What did you and Amanda do last night?”

My family and I are currently sitting at the dinner table outside on the porch eating lunch. My mom looks at me, waiting for an answer, as I swallow my burger.

“Well, we uh had a movie night with uh Ashton and Luke”

“Like a double date?” my mom raises her eyebrow

“Well uh yeah I guess. We’re kind of dating now” I take another bite, anticipating my family’s reaction to the news.

“You have a boyfriend?” my little sister, Brooke, stares at me wide-eyed. I nod back with a small smile

“That’s fantastic! We need to get to know him! Tell Luke to come over for dinner tonight” My mom cheers

“Sure” I smile widely at my mom. That went much, much better than I expected.

To: Luke

Hey, my mom is requesting your presence at Brunner family dinner tonight. Come by around 6?

From: Luke

Oh wow, can’t say no to the lovely Lori Brunner can I? See you then babe :)

I roll my eyes at his response, giggling. I tell my mom that Luke agreed and she starts ranting about how wonderful it is that I’ve found someone and what does he like to do and what should she make for dinner and blah blah blah. My mom is such the perfectionist and lives to ask questions.

As I listen to her drone on and on about dinner my stomach starts to twist. I’m excited about tonight but I’m also really nervous. What if my family doesn’t like Luke? I don’t think that’s possible but you never know.

(Luke’s POV)

“Time check?” I ask for about the one-hundredth time

“5:24. Stop pacing, mate you’re making me dizzy” Cal laughs and I glare at him

“I’m fucking nervous, Cal. What if I make a fool out of myself, what if Taylor’s family ends up hating me? I’ve never met them before. Well, I met her mom briefly. But that doesn’t count. Besides, then I was just a friend taking her out on a date, now I’m her boyfriend. It’s a completely different thing. I have a standard to live up to and—“

“Luke, calm down. Taylor loves you so her family will love you. Stop worrying, you’re awesome, man.” Cal pats my back and I let out the long breath I’ve been holding in.

“Okay, okay. You’re right, I shouldn’t freak. Is my outfit good? Is it too casual? Should I change? I should change” I run to my closet and start raking through outfit options
