Hanna

“You’re gonna get it!” Simon yelled when I shoved him and he tripped into a snow bank after he took my away from Bella and Blaise. “Come back here!” he yelled after me when I ran up ahead of him.

I giggled and continued to run as snow hit my back. I took a turn down the road to the right and stopped. I leaned on the wall outside the local café. I bit my lip as he passed by and then came back. He smiled and pressed his forehead against mine. My breath caught in my throat. That’s when the bell on the door to the café rang. I came to my senses and saw Pansy standing there with her mouth wide open before she ran off. I rolled my eyes and pulled myself from Simon before taking off again with a shriek.

“Come back here!” he yelled after me.

I didn’t look back as I continued to run up the hill. I stopped when I realized that I had gone up the road that lead to Draco’s house. Well, I stopped a little too late because I was standing right outside the gate. I gulped as I saw Draco walking out of his house. He looked pretty angry as well. A pair of arms wrapped around me from behind. I couldn’t help but smile. I then looked over at the gate as it rattled open and a stunned Draco was starring right at us. I quickly shoved Simon off of me as a blush creeped onto my cheeks.

“Hey, Draco,” I smiled at him awkwardly.

He waved before turning and walking right back into his yard. I sighed as I turned to Simon, who was looking at me sadly. I knew what he was thinking, and I wasn’t going to lead him on anymore. Sure, we had fun together flirting and all, but it wasn’t fair to him when my heart belonged to another.

“Simon,” my voice cracked as I said his name.

He just shook his head before turning and walking away. I followed him slowly, giving him his distance. I knew he must’ve needed time to think before I just went in and tore him all up. I wanted to just run up to him and…and…I wanted to explain things, but I couldn’t help but wish that he would kiss me every time he looked at me with those eyes of his.

Finally, he stopped and faced me. I gulped as I waited for him to speak.

“What is going on between you and that boy…Draco?” he asked, unsure if he said the name right.

“Draco was my boyfriend for a while. He dumped me a few weeks ago,” I explained slowly. “I know that you like me, Simon, but I just want you to know that-“

“You’re still in love with him?” he asked, nervously laughing.

I nodded. “Yeah,” I said as he got closer to me.

My breath caught in my throat once more as he put my face in both of his hands. “I know that you think you love him, Hanna, but I know how you act with me. That’s not the way a girl in love acts with someone else. You’re love with Draco, well, it’s like trying to catch a snowflake. You catch it and as soon as you touch it, it melts away. You and Draco may be in love, but it isn’t going to last long,” he smirked as he noticed my eyes traveling down to his mouth. “You wouldn’t be fantasizing about kissing me right now.”

He then let me go and walked into his house. I sighed and stared at the door. What is he talking about? He knew nothing about Draco and I. We were still very much in love, and as soon as Simon understood it, he wouldn’t be saying that. Our love would definitely last. I then made to catch a snowflake that was falling, just to prove him wrong, just to prove that the snowflake wouldn’t melt as soon as it touched my hand. One landed in my hand, and I watched as the snowflake disappeared.
