Cinquain: His Birth (Crapsey Style)
©2013, Olan Smith
You Are!
A chance for time
To open wide its gate
The hopefulness of your one soul
Your birth.
(Cinquain poetry is a five line poem created by American poet Adelaide Crapsey, the first publishing of this form was in 1915. The poem is usually iambic meter with two syllables for line 1, line 2 has four syllables, line 3 is six syllables, and line 4 has eight syllables, and line 5 has two--or more simply 2,4,6,8 and 2. I wouldn't worry about which style you use as there are many available to choose from.)
