Chapter 35 Life Is One Long Drama

*Harry’s Point of View*

I watched Abby cry herself into a deep sleep, I saw her father being escorted out of the hospital and I knew he came to see Abby, but what I don’t understand is why would he come back now? Abby was in so much pain when he left the first time, that was thirteen years ago, and now he’s back, creating a tornado of emotional destruction in his path. Abby was crushed when he left, she shut out life, she shut out dance, she was like a robot, she didn’t laugh, she didn’t smile, she didn’t talk to anyone unless she was forced to, she barley even talked to me and when she did it was only about three words, it was as if she was the walking dead, as if she was in a coma, not communicating with anyone, not laughing, she was a lifeless robot. It killed all of us to see her like this, she would insist she was ok, she was just tired but we all knew better we all knew that she was dying inside. Her mum wasn’t much better either, their mailbox was left un-attended for weeks on end, the lights were always turned off, the blinds were drawn and they were lifeless, walking around like robots still alive but dead inside. They were like this for months and then slowly but surely they began to come back to life it took time but eventually they came back they moved on, it was hard but they did it. And now that dirty rat is back, can’t he see that she’s better off without him? We all were. I saw

Abby stir in her sleep and then her eyes popped open; she looked so lonely and dejected the sorrow in her eyes stabbed me in the chest, striking my heart with every blow. Her eyes were still red and puffy the tears were still in her eyes threatening to spill over onto her delicate cheeks. I have never seen her this sad, not since that time five years ago it literally killed me inside to see her this way, her eyes were now a dark murky grey blue, no longer the bright blue they once were. Finally Abby opened her mouth and spoke,

“Harry my father’s back,” she croaked out the tears brimming over and spilling out.

“I know I saw him being dragged out,” I told her wiping away her tears. She doesn’t deserve any of this she was a good person.

“Why? Why does he have to come back now? What did I ever do to have all this happen?” asked Abby hr voice cracking.

“Nothing,” I whispered almost forcefully, she had done nothing wrong I don’t even know how she could ever think this was any way shape or form her fault sometimes life throws you a curve ball and all you can do is watch it come hurdling at you.

“Why?” asked Abby giving me a teary eyed look.

“Why what babe?”

“Why is he back after all these years? He missed out on everything, he hasn’t been in my life since I was eleven, and now I’m twenty three and he’s back?” cried Abby once again putting her head on my chest.

“Life has a weird way of working out, sometimes it feels like you’re on cloud nine and then the next day it’s like BAM you’re on the floor gasping and struggling for air,” I answered in the best way I could, this was something that Liam was always saying sometimes he was too smart for his own good.

“Well life sucks,” stated Abby.

“It doesn’t always suck,” I whispered giving her a light peck on the top of her head.

“I guess not but right now it’s pretty dang sucky,” muttered Abby, I held her tighter in my arms as I thought of what to say.

“Well you’ll always have me Abby, you might not always want me around but I’ll always be here for you, some days you might want your space and I’ll give it to you but you will always have me no matter what happens between us I’ll always be there for you,” I said nuzzling my head into her hair and giving her another kiss.

“Pinky promise?” whispered Abby holding up her pinky. I smiled and said,

“Pinky promise,” she wrapped her pinky around mine and sealed the deal with a light peck on the lips.

“You try to get some sleep now, you need it, you’ve had a long day,” I said giving her another light peck on the lips. Wordlessly Abby agreed placing her head in my chest and wrapping her arms around my torso as if she was afraid that I would slip away. I kept my arms around her as she fell into a deep sleep.

“Life is one long drama,” I whispered to no one in particular.
