I sat behind the front counter staring out of the diner window barely awake as I watched the cars drive by and people walk past. I didn't feel too good. It was more mental than physical. I felt worried but I didn't know what I was worried about. I looked at the sky and smiled at the heavy grey clouds filling it up. I loved the rain, it was so calming.

"We're heading to the mall after work, you coming?" I looked up as Kristy leaned over the counter.

I shook my head, no. "I think I'll just catch up on some sleep while I can," I replied because I hadn't been able to do that Friday night. Kristy frowned tilting her head to the side a little. "What?" I asked when I began feeling uncomfortably fidgety because she had been staring at me intently, not saying a word, for a few minutes.

"I'm trying to figure out which planet you're from." I gave an offended gasp and we laughed. "Come on, your parents can't let you work this much." She said.

I shrugged. "So just you and Xander?" I asked.

"No, the others are coming too. Jack's bringing someone." She said.

"What? Really?" I asked.

"Yeah," she said.

"He didn't tell me he met someone! That jerk." I said.

"It's probably a surprise, I only know because I spied on him when he went off alone on campus yesterday." I laughed.

"Oh, and I won't be able to see him," I mumbled.

"Jack will probably bring him by tomorrow just so you can." She said.

"Why are you two still here?" Max's voice came from behind Kristy.

"We're making your store look better," Kristy replied flipping her hair over her shoulder. I laughed as Max did.

"Get out, your shifts ended ten minutes ago." He said.

"You don't want us here?" Kristy asked.

"Yes, I don't." He said.

"Fine. We quit." She said making him chuckle.

"Great. I'll see you tomorrow." He replied he grinned.

"Yeah," Kristy said.

"Bye, Max." I jumped up following Kristy to the locker room.

We grabbed our stuff before we left and got a taxi. I pulled out my phone and looked at the screen. I had a few messages and calls from my Lyle who I was still not talking to. I opened the messages and read through them, he was mostly telling me to stop being childish and ignoring him and to just tell him what happened. I paused as I read the fourth last text.
