The next day, Jungwon found it hard to concentrate on anything. Even during school, his mind kept drifting back to Jay and what he would ask him when they met again. He couldn't deny a certain excitement building within him. After all, meeting a vampire wasn't something you do every day.

As the school day came to an end, Jungwon's anticipation grew. He couldn't wait to see Jay again.

Jungwon |

When it was finally time, I made my way to the park. The air was freezing cold, but I didn't care. Anticipation warmed me from the inside. As I arrived, Jay was already there. He welcomed me from afar, and I couldn't help but smile.

"Hey, Jungwon!" Jay called.

"Hey!" I replied.

I walked over, and he gestured to the bench next to him. I quickly sat down next to him.

He playfully teased, "I was starting to worry you wouldn't show up. Thought maybe you got scared or something."

"Well, now I'm here, right?"

We sat in comfortable silence for a moment. I was still a bit afraid, but I didn't let it show. Finally, I mustered the courage to ask, "Can I ask you something?"

Jay nodded, his gaze fixed on the night sky.

I whispered, "Would you... would you ever kill me?" I couldn't meet Jay's eyes as I asked.

"Why do you think that?" Jay responded, a hint of hurt in his voice.

"I mean, vampires are like that, aren't they? They just kill innocent people," I whispered again, hesitating.

Jay chuckled softly, "You must have watched too many horror movies."

Confused, I asked, "What do you mean?"

Jay explained, "Vampires don't just kill or bite people whenever they want. We don't harm innocent people, especially not kids. We only bite those who deserve it. People who have committed crimes or hurt others. And we don't do it every day; vampires feel the need to drink human blood only occasionally."

"So, it's not as dramatic as the movies make it out to be?" I asked.

Jay grinned, "Exactly. Hollywood likes to exaggerate things a little bit."

I smiled, reassured by his explanation, but then a realization hit me. I couldn't help but ask, "And the person you bit some nights ago..."

Jay finished the sentence, "...was also not an innocent one. He abused his own pets. Sad, isn't it?"

I was surprised. "So you basically saved the pets then?"

Jay confirmed it with a nod. "Exactly."

He continued, "You shouldn't be afraid of me, Jungwon. I would never harm you."

"But then why did you act like this when I saw you? You were literally about to kill me, too!" I wanted to know.

"Oh, I just needed to scare you away a bit. I had to make sure you wouldn't tell anyone," Jay answered with a playful smirk.

I raised an eyebrow, "Scare me away? Well, it worked. I was freaking terrified! I almost pissed my pants that night!"

Jay chuckled, "Sorry about that. I had to keep our little secret, you know?"

I sighed, "I guess so, but couldn't you have found a less dramatic way?"

Jay leaned back, a mischievous glint in his eyes. "Where's the fun in that?"

I rolled my eyes, but there was a hint of amusement in my expression.

"So, scaring me half to death was your idea of a good time?" I teased, a playful smirk on my face this time.
