August 15th. Joe's birthday. He had kept quiet about it, as he didn't want anyone to make a fuss of him. Usually, he wouldn't mind being centre of attention. He loved all eyes on him when he was up on stage. And usually, he would be all out for partying until the sun came up. But this birthday was different. Birthdays were personal. And this year, Joe didn't want a big scene.

And since he hadn't spoken of it, Emmie didn't even know. Tomorrow was just another ordinary day for her, and he planned to keep it that way. He didn't need her freaking out over celebration plans.

His ideal night, would be spent alone, or maybe with friends. A few mimosas and a movie. Someone plain and simple. Just the way Joe had been planning for months in advance. But what he didn't know, was that his brothers had something else in mind.

Kevin had been secretly planning his little brother's birthday for as long as he could remember. He pictured the three of them, Dani, Pri- and now including Emmie, gathered around his apartment, celebrating and spending some quality time together. His only problem was getting everyone on board, without letting it slip to Joe.

And Emmie had no idea of this. So when she opened the door on Friday evening, she hadn't expected the oldest Jonas brother to be staring back at her.

"Hey Em." Kevin smiled, with an overly chirpy tone to his voice. Emmie grinned at him, quickly letting him inside.

"Are you alright?" She asks, "You seem very happy."

"I'm excited." Kevin corrected her with a smirk. "I need your help."

"Tell me everything." Emmie encouraged him, suddenly curious. She knew Kevin had some information to spill, and she couldn't help but feel the excitement radiating from him.

"I think we should throw Joe little get-together." He began as he sat himself on the couch. He watched as Emmie raised an eyebrow, stood opposite from him.

"You do?" She quizzed. "What for?"

"He didn't tell you?"

Emmie shook her head, unsure what Kevin meant.

"Of course he didn't." Kevin sighed, facepalming. "This is Joe we're talking about."

She couldn't help but laugh at Kevin cursing himself under his breath.

"It's Joe's birthday, tomorrow." He told her simply. Emmie's eyes widened, this time in disbelief.

"It is?" She asked, folding her arms. "Why wouldn't he tell me?"

Kevin shrugged, as Emmie took a seat beside him.

"Joe is weird about birthdays." He explained. "He goes all out for anyone else, but wont let anyone do it for him."

"And you think we should throw him a party?" Emmie continued, glancing at him.

"Not a party." Kevin corrected her again. "Just a tiny get together." He smirked, although Emmie could tell he had more than just a little get together planned.

She was intrigued.

"I'm in."

Planning a last minute 'birthday get together' as Kevin called it, wasn't as easy as they had hoped. Keeping Joe away was one thing, but making sure everything would go right that following evening was another. Emmie wasn't sure how Joe would react. Kevin had warned her about him, so she didn't want to scare him away with a huge celebration.

Kevin had offered to distract Joe, by taking him down to the music room to write some new songs together. It was generous of him, after all it was his idea. He had left Joe's apartment unlocked, allowing the others to invite themselves inside to decorate.
