As the night wore on, a slight distance grew between you and Javier. After dinner he helped you clean up silently. There was a slight awkward tension lingering in the air. After you both cleaned up you both had taken your respective spots on your couch, the wind was blowing harder than usual. You set your magazine down and walked to the large set of windows in your loft to look out. The chairs outside on the rickety wooden deck had blew over from the wind. You opened the sliding glass door and stepped outside. A small pile of sand was starting to gather on top of the wood. You walked over to the chairs and slowly picked them up, once you finished you took a seat and watched the waves blow in from the ocean and smack against the shore aggressively. No ones lights in the other houses where on, only the soft yellowish glow from the light that hung above your table. The air was hot but as the breeze swept in it sent a chill down your spine. Dark clouds illuminated by a dark blue hue rolled in, the sounds of rolling thunder started to come in, and so did a heated mist that coated the back of your neck. You heard a low squeak and looked over to see Javier standing in the doors frame. He sighed and closed the door behind him and walked to the opposite chair. He reached in his pocket and pulled out a pack of smokes and brought one to his lips, he reached in his back pocket and pulled out a red disposable lighter and the flame was quickly pushed to the side by the wind, Javier cupped his hand over the flame to make sure the wind wouldn't blow the flame away. Once the amber glow was gone he took the light back in his pocket and took a inhale, smoke escaped his nose. You both silently watched the clouds roll in, the mist started to make your clothes stick to your skin, you reached over and took the cigarette from his mouth and puffed on it before giving it back to him. There was muffled talking coming in from the news channel that had been left on the TV. "I haven't been anywhere this quiet. I see why you came out here." You looked over at him and a small grin quickly appeared on your face and left just as quick. "Yeah. It's nice." He let out a small noise in agreement before flicking the ashes off the cigarette. "I didn't mean to upset you earlier." You looked over back at him "it's ok. I should've told you." You looked down at the ring at your finger and admired how the stones captured what little light form your loft and still glistened even with the dark atmosphere that gloomed over the sky. "Javier, can I be honest" he looked over at you signaling for you to continue what you where going to say. "I feel like we're rushed. I mean I know why you want to settle down because of work. And I agree with your motives. But you had come back only what feels like a few days and just totally slid your way back into my life, literally too." He let out a small chuckle "well, I am pretty good at doing that." You grinned a little and looked down at your hand, "I'm just, I feel we have a-lot of holes to patch." You looked back up at him and he softly nodded his head, you heard a melody come from the TV, indicating a weather report for the night. You looked over at Javier and he stood up carefully and flicked the now dead cigarette into a small trash can as he entered the loft again. You followed and sat down in the middle of the couch, you reached onto the coffee table and grabbed the boxy remote turning up the volume on the TV. "This evenings weather report is 100% chance of thunder and lightning storms along the Florida coast." They flash a colorful map showing the rain patterns "We advise everyone to stay inside. Please consider bringing out flash lights and or candles if power lines and plants shut down suddenly." Javier returns with a few large flashlights tucked under his arm and sets them on the table next to the small kitchen. You curl your legs under your self while you sit on the couch, Javier walks back from the table and sighs as he sits down next to you, he wraps his arm around you bringing your self closer to him. You both continue to watch the weather channel and listen to the man on the Tv with the really bad tan continue to talk.

"Jav?" He looks over at you, "why did you leave Columbia. Especially right now" he took in a heavy sigh and turn his gaze from you, he took his hand and rubbed his face before it made its way down to his mouth covering it. He sighed before speaking, "they found out I was working with a group they didn't agree with. So, they sent me back to the states." You nod your head as he speaks "I don't know what else is going to happen from then." He sighs and looks over at you, his eyes had seemed darker than before. You reach your arm around his waist and pull him closer to you. "Now that I'm back, I'd like to see my pops." Your eyes light up from his words, Javier had never mentioned his father or mother. Only a few times when he would give you a brief explanation of pictures of his family members, pictures of him as a child or the few pictures he had gotten from the DEA academy. "Where does your family live?" He turns his head to you, he notices the sparkle growing in your eyes. A small smile creeps into his face, he looks down at your hand and looks back up at you. "Texas, Laredo actually. My family has a ranch and we move cattle during the winter months. I believe I told you about the ranch." You nod your head and grin while you rest your head on his shoulder. "I would love to meet your family javi. I'd like to meet a different side of you too." Javier's face lights up and he grins at your response. He pulls your body closer to his and looks out the window before turning his attention towards you. "I can make a phone call." He grins to him self as he looks out of the window again, there is a loud clap of thunder and it shakes the loft. The lights flicker slightly and return to normal. Static spreads across the TV screen, he sighs and gets up and walks over to your TV. He fiddles with the antenna in the top and hits the top of it, he fiddles with the small buttons and dials on the side before eventually getting irritated and turning it off. You softly chuckle as you watch him get frustrated and eventually give up. He sighs and walks back over to the couch and plops down. "Where stuck in for the night, come lay with me" you speak to him softly, he turns his head to you. "Im already next to you?" He says confused, you give him a little grin and shift your body to lay horizontal on your couch, you let out a sigh as you extend your legs out and stretch. Javier also shifts his body and still leans up right, you look at him and pat your stomach. "Come" you speak softly, he looks over at you and gives you a grin. He gets up and gets on his hands and leans his weight into your body as he lays down. His head rests on your stomach as his arms wrap around the back of your legs spreading them a little bit. You feel your face flush but rub your fingers through his hair. You feel him let out a heavy sigh and a content smile grow on his face. "Better?" You smile as you ask, Javier responds with a 'mmhm' and gives your legs a little smack. He turns his gaze up at you, you can see his deep set eyes get heavy, "this is nice." His voice slowly gets a little deeper as his body starts to relax. You smile and continue to run your fingers through his hair as he lay between your legs. Javier had never appeared or shown he was a submissive man, nothing wrong with that of course. But when he would do something like laying on top of you, letting you play with his hair or even whimper when you both would have sex- you could feel that side of him, secretly you did like it. The feeling of his weight pushing against yours was
Comforting and you wanted to care for him, mother him in a way. You continued to run your fingers through his hair and gently hummed to him while you listened to his breathing slow. Javier was constantly in a state of stress, even when he didn't show it or if he did he wasn't too subtle about it. When he would come back to the apartment after a long day of being out on the field or just being stuck doing reports at the office, large dark raccoon like circles would form around his deep set of eyes. He would come back and sometimes just flop onto his couch and sleep their for the night, of course you would help him to his bed and help him change and get into bed. You liked taking care of him, and he liked taking care of you. He wanted you to be comfortable, in his dream world he would love to have his woman stay home and have a hot meal in front of him once he got home. It was the so called 'American dream'.

The night continued to wear on and you listened to his breathing and the harsh rain outside violently storm down onto the glass of your windows. The wind howled and blowed around the loft and through the beach. You felt a shift in his movement and turn his head on it's side, he reached his arm up and gripped onto your thigh, his warm hands gently pushed into your soft flesh, he brought your leg to his face and left soft little kisses on your thigh. You smiled at his actions and patted him on his head. "I know this is out of character for me. I missed you." He spoke, you looked down at him and held his face with your hand as he turned his head from between your thighs to look up at you. "I missed you too Javier, and I'm excited to meet your family soon." You softly smiled down at him and you watched his eyes twinkle at your words that warmed his heart, his family was his heart. It hurt him on the inside having to leave his parents behind and being sent down to Colombia as soon as he graduated from the academy.

He missed his mother and never got the chance to say goodbye..

You cradled his cheek in your hand while you listened to his breathing and talking about his dad. "Nothing I say now compares to actually meeting him." He grinned as he continued to babble, you listened and took mental notes to what to expect. "What was your favorite dish your mother made javi?" You pushed his hair from his face, he thought and let out a sigh "I loved everything she made. I would have to say her menudo if I had to pick. She would wake up early on Sunday mornings before mass, the tripe takes a long time to cook through all the way. She would let it sit and would continue to let it keep cooking once we got home, that's what we ate on Sunday nights. It always tasted better the second day." He let out a sigh while he reminisced about the memory of his mother. You continued to rub his cheek for a little longer while you both sat in silence for a moment, his heart hurt thinking about his mother and the memories. It cut deeply losing her and then having to leave right after the funeral back to Columbia. Javier constantly worried about how his father was doing all alone on the ranch. He cleared his throat and sighed "I wish you could have met her, she would have loved to teach you some of her recipes." He says and lays his head back down on your stomach as his fingers traced the soft skin on your thighs, it made your legs twitch and it was quite ticklish. "I would love too Javier." Your words send a wave of calmness through his body, you wanted to take away his pain and bring his mother back but the world didn't work like that unfortunately. All you could do was hold him close and hum to him softly as you could feel his large body start to relax once more. His weight became much more heavy, you gently leaned up and grabbed a blanket off the back of the couch and draped it over him, you reached behind you and turned off the lamp on the small table right next to your couch. You moved slowly making sure not to disturb him. You ran your other hand down his back and rubbed small circles into his frame. He let out a soft groan and let his body go limp putting his full weight on you, you could hear his breathing get a little louder. You shimmed down onto the couch fully and rested your head back comfortably. You heard a slight snore come from him, you looked down at him now fully asleep. You smiled at him and let your self relax as you listened to the heavy thunder and rain slip into your ears as you drifted to sleep.
