You started blankly at the deep Velvet box. He held it in his rough hands. You looked up at him, "Javier. What is that." He shimmed down from your bed and got on one knee, he opened the box. Inside was a small golden band, on opposite two sides where two small cut diamonds in the shape of triangles. The center was a larger diamond shaped like an oval. The band was carved with letters on the inside. "I know what you're going to say. But, when you left I realized how much of a shitty person I was to you. I drove you away. You didn't deserve that, I never gave you an actual relationship. But I'm not going anywhere. I'm not going back to Columbia anytime soon." Your jaw hung open. "I know this is sudden. And I should've called you at least. But I've never been with anyone who makes me feel like you do." He called you by your full name, "will you marry me?" You sat on your bed flabbergasted, the man who protected you, fucked you, cried for you, and abandoned you was asking for you to spend the rest of your life with him. Three days after he returned. Your heart ached against your chest, your body became hot and cold at the same time. You looked at his pleading eyes, emotions waved over you making you break down in tears. You shook your head up and down and your hands went to his face cupping it softly and kissing him on his soft lips. "Yes, yes I will
Javier Peña." He smiled against your lips and slid the band onto your finger. he picked you up and spun you around your bedroom giggling. He crawled into your bed with you and you sat in his lap. You couldn't take your eyes off the ring. You took it off and looked at the lettering on the inside. It was the same date as today, but different year '1959'. You looked at Javier Confused, maybe he got the engraving wrong. He took it out of your hands, "this was the ring my father used gave to my mother. Today is their engagement anniversary." Your lips pursed and a lump in your throat formed. "Javier, that's so sweet." You looked at the diamond and admired its beauty. "I was supposed to fly into texas actually. But I wanted to do this before I got there."
You turned your head, "you should've done that! I know you haven't seen your father in a while." You growled at him in annoyance. You didn't wanna be put first before his family. "this was just as important." He cradled you in his lap and leaned against your bed frame. "I want a small wedding. No no, a big one. No a medium sized one. Yeah. And I want it to have all of your family members and friends, and Steve and all them." You Babbled on through the night about the wedding, Javier listened and stroked your head while you talked. "What about your family." You paused and looked at him, "maybe. I don't know yet." He held you closer to him, "why not?" You sighed, "I don't know if they'll approve of you." He looked stunned, but
Still continued to hold you against him. "Why?" You sighed, "they're uptight, wanted me to marry into
Money, you know that kinda thing." His brows furrowed, "money?" You nodded your head. "Daddy's into oil, sleeps with his secretary at the office. At least that's what I remember, mom hated him, but she married him for money." He nodded his head. "Solid." You chuckled. "Daddy was always gone, either working or business. Inherited the company from his grandfather. I was A lot closer with with him than I was my mother. She was very judgmental and didn't spend a lot of time with me as a child. When she did it was only before bed, we would have nanny's watch me for a large portion of my childhood." He held you closer to his warm body. "What's Texas like Javi? Daddy went often but I'd never gone." He sighed and cleared his throat. "Hot, all the time. Very bipolar weather, has some of the best tacos you'll ever have. Especially San Antonio, music and full of life. The beaches aren't as nice as Miami." You wiggled in his lap. "Whats our house
Going to be like." Red crept onto his face, he smiled down at you. "You should get some rest." He moved you off his lap and you lay down next to him. You turned your head and looked out the window of your bed. You really needed to get curtains. The ocean was calm, short bursts of waves hit the illuminated shore line. Dragging the blue tinted sand into the deep blue depths of the ocean. Moonlight twinkled off the surface of the water. You felt the weight in your bed shift and javi flicked your lamp off. The weight shifted back to you and you could feel Javier moving down into the covers. He rolled into his side and his head went to your soft chest. His hand stretched across your body and made its way to your cheek turning your face to his. "I love you."
