(One chapter for today again. I'm so sorry bc it's already night here. Soon I'll write two like usual 😓)

Claude and Navier stood side by side in the serene garden, bathed in the gentle moonlight that bestowed a soft radiance upon their eyes.

It was a moment that felt suspended in time, a fleeting interlude of tranquility amidst the bustling nobles who bid their farewells to the princess.

Lady Artina's voice broke the spell, calling out to the empress with a gentle urgency, "Your majesty, we must depart now."

Navier's eyes widened ever so slightly, acknowledging the necessity of their departure. She turned towards Claude, taking a step back with poise and grace, her heels tapping gently against the ground.

"It has been a pleasure to share this moment with you, your majesty," she expressed, accompanied by an elegant curtsy and a warm smile that graced her lips.

Claude's ears perked up, captivated by her words. It seemed that Navier regarded this encounter - as a moment of serenity, a connection formed in friendship, if nothing more, of course.

His lips parted, an unspoken response poised on his tongue, yet he hesitated.

The weight of his emotions lay heavy upon his chest, prompting him to place a hand over his heart, grasping onto the little golden braid accessory adorning his attire.

It served as a grounding gesture, a tangible anchor to steady his racing heart.

For a fleeting moment, he squeezed that spot, his gaze fixed on Navier, his expression steadfast. And in response, the empress softened her smile, offering a gentle nod of understanding.

"Please convey my heartfelt birthday wishes to her highness," she requested with sincerity.

"...Understood," Claude replied calmly, his voice barely above a whisper.

As Navier spoke those parting words, she gracefully pivoted on her heel, gracefully gliding past him towards the awaiting carriage.

Fixing his gaze on Navier, his expression resolute, he watched as she gracefully passed by him, heading towards the awaiting carriage.

He couldn't help but feel a pang of longing as he watched her depart, the sound of her footsteps gradually fading away.

And it made him begin to feel that perhaps he had grown accustomed to her presence.
