- he feels awful.
- he had been talking with secondo on and off about a surprise party for you, but then everything fell through and copia decided it would be a great time to double down on practices.

rain's hands shook as he walked back to your shared room, feeling something nagging in the back of his mind.

he had forgotten something. and it was important. but rain had no clue what he was missing.

rain unlocked the door and stepped in, looking up to see you changing into comfy clothes, an unreadable expression on your face.

"what's wrong?" rain asked, dread coursing through him as he realized what he had forgotten was extremely important and had to do with you.

you looked over, tears welling in your eyes.

rain looked around the room, seeing your favorite dress tossed in the hamper. he wracked his brain, searching for whatever he had missed.

his eyes widened.

oh.. oh shit.

"anniversary.." rain whispered. you nodded, kicking off your heels and stepping into some sweatpants.

"y/n, i am so sorry. i swear i didn't mean to forget. secondo and i actually planned a small party for us but everything fell through and copia started going really hard on practices and-" rain cut himself off as you held up your hand, shaking your head as you climbed into bed.

"dove, i'm sorry, i didn't mean to-" rain apologized again as he rushed over to the bed, but stopped as you started talking.

"rain, please," you sighed, looking at him. "i.. i just need tonight for myself. i know you didn't mean to, but it still hurts." you mumbled. rain swallowed harshly, backing up from the bed.

you laid down, turning on your side so your back was to him.

rain's breath shook slightly as he shuffled over to the door, opening it.

"i love you.." rain called, his voice sad. "i love you, too." you mumbled as you grabbed his pillow, holding it close to you.

rain took that as a sign that you weren't mad, you just needed space. he nodded to himself, turning off the lights and closing the door as he stepped out.

rain slid to the floor, crossing his legs as he stared at the wall. dew watched, his eyebrows furrowed as he shuffled over.

"you okay, man?" dew asked. rain's lip quivered as he looked up at the fire ghoul.

"i fucked up, dew." rain whispered, his voice cracking.
