(A/N: It's always going to be Owen's POV unless stated otherwise. The next few chapters are fillers, sorry if they're boring but I've been busy not to mention writers block oh well. Wish me luck...)

Chapter 27:

“Did you guys hear that?” I say to no one in particular. Both David and Grace look at me, however, as if I am completely insane. Maybe I am.

“Come on mate, you need some sleep.” David said. Suddenly, he had an odd accent, one that I recognize from when I was in Australia. His hair is also now turning more of an auburn color. I must have been staring. “Wot? Never seen an Aussie before?” I shake my head, I’ve seen an Australian before, but never one who could change their hair color. “Ah, yes. I was only wearing my uniform. Healer, aight?”

“Erm, okay?” I shakily replied. Grace was cradled in my arms, fast asleep. David walks off, probably just to find a spot to sleep. I find a patch of dandelions and figure that’s the softest thing I’ll find around here. I lay Grace down first and then lie down myself, quickly drifting off to sleep.

The voice appeared in my sleep again. Be careful,” it whispered. Then a scene appeared. I was surrounded by a fire, darkness everywhere. This must be Hell. A girl came through the fire, her hair matching. I tried to step back but the fire burned me. I didn’t want to believe my eyes considering how dreadfully wrong I was last time.

“Prove to me you’re real.” I stood up straight, trying to appear taller than I actually am. She just laughed. She was standing in the fire, it receded wherever she walked however still tickled her ankles. She was completely unfazed.

“Of course I’m not real! Only a dream, right?” She said boldly. I simply stood there, somewhat slouched. “Be careful, Owen.”

“But…”

“No buts, be careful.”

“Okay, Rose.”

The fire disappeared to reveal complete darkness. I felt as if I were witnessing an earthquake. Everything was shaking and I felt as if I were about to throw up, as if I had any food in my stomach. I actually just realized how hungry I was. How long has it been since I’ve had something to eat? The shaking is becoming unbearable. Suddenly, I hear my name over and over again. At first, my mind drifts to Rose but as it continues I realize that it’s two voices. One sounds masculine and one sounds high pitched. I open my eyes to reveal blinding light.

“Agh!” I cry out. “It burns! God dammit!”

“Welcome to the outback, kiddo.” David cheerfully says, his accent remaining. Today he is wearing a lime green shirt and khaki shorts. His hair a peaceful black. I must have been staring again because he sighs. “I’m a shape shifter, but I much prefer to be a human, so I only change my looks. Confuses the crap out of me mum.”

“Why must we be on the sun?” I call out, putting my hand over my eyes.

“This, mate, is Australia.”

“Let’s go to the dark side of the moon.”

“I’ve got some brekky.”

“You mean breakfast?”

“Wotever.”

I’m so hungry I’d eat fried kangaroo.
