Hurricane Monica

I wake up to a bunch of clatter and noise coming from downstairs.

I get out of bed and then realise that everyone else is already downstairs.

"Why is everyone up so early?" I ask as I walk downstairs.

"Morgan, my baby!" Monica wraps her arms around me.

I quickly escape from her hug.

"What the fuck is she doing here?" I ask as I go over the cupboard and grab a breakfast bar.

"I asked your mother to come back home." Frank tells me.

"Oh, so you live here now too?" I question.

"I made breakfast." Monica smiles.

"Yeah, no thanks." I say to her.

"Your mom spent a lot of time making that breakfast. Sit down and eat it!" Frank shouts.

"This is bullshit." I say as I walk out.

"Morgan!" Fiona calls out.

The worst part of Mickey Milkovich being your only friend is that he's always in juvie, or just not at school.

This meant that I was stuck with Ian pretty much all the time at school, which meant that I also had to hang around with Mandy.

"Our mom showed up today. She just came out of nowhere." Ian tells Mandy as we all walk into school together.

"Is she staying?" Mandy asks.

"She never does." I tell her.

As we continue to walk, Mandy gets awfully quiet.

"Hey, are you okay?" I ask her.

Yeah, she kinda fucked me over, but I still deeply cared about her, whether she did or not.

"Yeah." She forces a half smile.

"How's Mickey holding up in juvie?" Ian asks.

"He called me a fuck-twat, so he seems okay. You should visit him." Mandy says to both us.

"I'll try go after school." I tell her.

"I can't, he's pissed at me because of the Frank situation." Ian says.

"You're lucky your mom's dead." He then says to Mandy.

"Yeah." Mandy agrees.

---

"Is this your new home now?" I laugh when Mickey sits down in front of me.

"Free food and and a bed, it's kinda great." He jokes.

"My mom's back." I say to him.

"How much money does she want this time?" He asks.

"Well, apparently, Frank is very fragile and he needed her." I tell him.

"What's wrong with Frank?" He then asks.

"Grammy died." I say to him.

"Your life sounds as shit as mines." He says as I flip him off.

"Ian wants to visit you." I tell him.

"That's over now." He says.
