Zane's POV:

"Molly. What happened?"

She looked really nervous and scared in my presence right now. The security guys likely spotted it since they made their way over to us as a precaution.

"After you left, she retreated to her office, not wanting to be disturbed. It was clear to me, she had been crying, so I told Wayne to check on her once he started his shift. They were friends since they were toddlers." Molly started explaining. "At some point during their conversation, he suddenly bolted out and told me to call an ambulance. She went into labor prematurely, apparently due to stress."

My hands clenched into fists. This wasn't good. Not only did I make her cry and hurt her feelings. I also managed to put her into enough stress to force her into labor. What if the child got hurt during it? What if she got hurt during it?

"She told me she would send the puppy to your new home once you give us the address." Molly explained further.

"There won't be a need for that." I stated calmly.

"Andrei." Richard, one of the security guys, addressed me. "I think it's better if you leave now."

"I will, no worries. There is no need for violence now. And quite frankly, I don't have the time anyway." I answered and turned with both suitcases in my hands.

Even when I shouldered past Richard, making him stumble, no one tried to do anything about it. I doubt they were scared of me. I think it was more due to respect. Making my way to my car, I tossed my luggage in and closed the trunk. I locked the car and lit up another cigarette. Stopping to smoke again might be a good idea, but right now I needed to calm my nerves before I got to her.

...

Approaching the entrance of the medical center, I immediately spotted Wayne leaning against the wall. He noticed me too and took a step forward with crossed arms.

Great. He plays guard dog now.

"What do you think you are doing here? She doesn't want to see you, and I won't let you go up there." he told me with a challenging glare.

I am not going to have any of that.

I did not stop and marched up till I was right in front of him with clenched fists, "You and me both know that there is no way in hell you are going to stop me from being with her right now."

If I could will my eyes to burn a man alive, I probably would have done that right now. He gave me a quick once over, surely noticing the blood stains on my pants and the bruises on my knuckles from hitting Sledge too hard.

"You overestimate your ability to threaten me, Andrei. I won't-" he began to talk, but I cut him off quickly.

"Oh, I am not trying to threaten you, I am warning you. The only two options you have are to step out of the way and let me go around you. Or you keep standing there, and I will go right through you. Your fucking choice." I basically snarled at him.

We held each other's stare right in front of the entrance there. He was clearly sizing me up to see if he could take me on right now. I was mainly judging how much force I would need to apply to his face to make him fall flat in one swing. The sliding door opened, and our little stare off was interrupted by a nurse coming out and removing her mouth guard.

Her eyes wandered to Wayne and then to me. I could see a recognition as she spotted me. In the last months here, I built up quite the reputation. With a face like mine, it was hard to not know who I was. I was quite recognizable.

"Mr. Kroll I assume?" she started.

"Correct." I pressed out between clenched teeth.

She obviously noticed how tense I was and tried to defuse the whole situation calmly, "I guess you are here for checking on miss Ray. Please after me."
