Bumi felt the hot tears running down his face as he rubbed his arms with a wet towel, trying to wipe away the ink on his arms...he tried to give himself the arrows of his father to see if it would give him airbending, but it was a dumb idea and now the black fluid wouldnt go away.

His dad couldnt see him this way, it would be too much of a disappointment, he had to clean that ink...the arm started to hurt as the skin began to irritate, he wasnt going anywhere like this.

Bumi began crying harder, for the pain on his arms, for the shame of not being what he was supposed to be...he didnt actually know why, he was just crying but it was somehow liberating, he needed it...

"Bumi" he heard his dads voice, Bumi froze he couldnt open the door.

"DONT ENTER!" he screamed, nervous

"Bumi...are you okay? let me just-"

"DONT OPEN THE DOOR PLEASE"

Aang sighed "Bumi...Im just worried about you, if you let me in we can work this out"

Bumis pulse became more fast "Moms here?"

"shes outside with your sister..."

Bumi sighed and remained in silence, with the hope that his father will walk away

"Bumi, are you in there?"

"...yeah?" his eyes cornered with tears

Aang took a deep breath and closed his eyes, placing his back on the door

"dad"

"yeah...?"

"do you like me at least a bit?"

Aangs eyes widened "Of course! I love you more than anything on this world..."

Aang leaned closer to the door "...want to know a secret?"

"what secret?" whispered Bumi from the other side

"I love you even more than I love mommy"

Bumi giggled, Aang smiled hearing that his son wasnt crying anymore

"Really?"

"you bet! Dont tell her tho, its a secret" he grinned, Bumi smiled

"mkay..."

Aang gave a short, happy sigh...then Bumi slightly opened the door, gesture that made Aang fell on his back

"OW..."

Bumi covered his mouth with both his hands "im sorry, I didnt mean to-" his eyes began watering again

Aang sat up on the ground, slightly rubbing his back

"no no, thats on me...im getting older" he smiled placing his hand on Bumis shoulders...but he noticed that his sons shoulders were stained with a black substance.

"...whats this?" a worried expression on his features

Bumi looked down

"Bumi...you can tell me" he slightly picked his chin and tilted up his head

"promise you wont get mad" muttered him

"I wont Bumi, Ill always have your back, got that?"

Bumi shily nodded at his dad

"now...whats-"

"I wanted to bend like you!" Bumi spit out the words unexptectedly, as if they were poisonous

Aangs heart...cracked. His son was ashamed of himself, and it was his fault...all his fault.

"cause...cause we could bend together and do these things but it doesnt click like you and mom explained to me!" a tear running down his cheek

Aang picked his sons little hand

"Bum, remember what me and mom told you after that?"

"that for some people doesnt click, like for uncle Sokka..."

"thats right and-"

"BUT- I cant be without bending dad! Im youre son how can I-"

"Bumi...what did we told you about this people?"

"...that for them it clicks in other ways"

"thats right, youll be creative, or brave, or funny...youll have your talent and your charisma"

"I- I dont know..."

"Bumi look at me"

"I need to be like you..." the kid began crying

"Bumi, you dont, and youll ever have to, youre Bumi and nobody is going to change that understood? I promise you, Ill make sure of it"

Bumi sniffed and looked at Aang

"im not a mistake right?*

"Bumi...dont you dare think that ever again" he hugged him tightly

"I wanted you with all my soul, and Ill never regret bringing you to this world"

"are you sure?"

"more than sure"

Bumi sniffed and looked at his arms, Aang looked at him

"Well get rid of them soon if you dont like them"

"they wont go away..."

"come here..." he led Bumi to a little cabinet

Aang opened it and from it took a bottle full of a green liquid.

Bumi watched with his mouth shut as Aang began putting some liquid on the towel and gently rubbing it on hus sons hands.

It was working, Bumis eyes widened

"its your moms...she uses it to clean ger necklace, its a oily soap from the water tribe that doesn't ruin the gem of her necklace...I figured that-"

"thanks dad"

Aang smiled "dont mention that...love you"

"love you too"
