Life and love was difficult for Sharni Hendry, while growing up. Now, aged sixteen, she hopes to move on and starts afresh, leaving her past behind her. However, little does she know that a few surprises awaits this young student as she enters the world of college. Not only does Sharni finds out that things are not exactly how they seem, you will be too as there are many twists and turns to the story that you would never imagine! Caution: There may be words and imagery that are unsuitable for very young readers. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This story is part of a "What If" challenge that I set myself. It is an alternative version of the original that I initially wrote between 2002 - 2005 (hence the title). This is aimed at an older age range of readers compared to the original, but that is not the only challenging thing about the story. I have swapped the roles of the leading man (Vince Carr) and the antagonist (Steven Wilks) around, making Steven the leading man and Vince the antagonist. However, I decided to keep the structure of the story more or less the same. So, that means that Vince will have a sinister reason for 'secretly' liking Sharni. Also, unlike the original story, after the Prologue, I have decided to divide this story into 3 parts which are sub-divided into chapters. So, you see it is not going to be a straight forward as you think ;) This version was inspired by a number of things: 1. An Art Challenge by artist Mei Yu where she drew well known baddies from films as good guys and vice versa. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bDQZW7yXY6I https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0gwRCFDH-wQ 2. James Patterson's stories. 3. Current feelings in life. Just like the original version, this story has been written in an American dialect, but I am aware that the concept may not reflect it. But I hope my new readers will enjoy this story as much as my few old ones :) Happy Reading!! S. T. Haque
