Scanning the room, the girl's training allowed her to notice the three most important things. One, it was a plain room with no windows or exits besides the door she just entered. There were no places for anybody to be hiding. Her wolf relaxed an infinitesimal amount at the knowledge that she couldn't be attacked. Two, there was a mangled body lying in a heap in the far left corner of the cell. After barely more than a glance, it was obvious that the person was no longer alive. Blood was everywhere. The fresh, almost metallic smell filled the girl's powerful nose. Three, a crib sat against the other wall of the room. A baby sat in the crib, wide-eyed but not making a sound. The girl approached the boy, ready to grab him and escape to safety. She didn't want him to be here in case anyone came back to finish him off as well. Just as they were about to exit the cell, the baby let out a whimper. He twisted in the girl's arms, trying to look back at the mangled body in the corner. A faint sound followed the boy's cry. It was a gurgling sound. The chest of the body in the corner fluttered and the fingers twitched as if to say, "I'm alive."
