My best work always comes when I'm doing something that isn't writing. I just be eating quesadillas and then go 'oh shit, I know what to write about'.

Random birds chirping somewhere outside of the building woke you up. You just opened your eyes, feeling sort of tired due to the fact that you would usually not get a lot of sleep, and everyday, your exhausted expression made that very obvious every single time you walked into the classroom.
You had to get help.
Grabbing your phone, you dialed the only person who you knew could possibly help you with this problem.
"Y/N?"
Y/N: "Hey, Mai."
"Mai? You don't usually call me by my first name, is it getting worse?"
Y/N: "I think so, yeah. I can't sleep, and I don't think it's the annoying birds from outside. I need you."
Who knew that a single sentence could have a lot of effect on Mai Sakurajima, who by now was still doing her best in her job as an actress. But given that, aside from school, most of her time was spent endlessly working, she never got a chance to see you or even talk to you. Only at school could she do that and many other things.
This was the perfect opportunity for her to see her partner in crime.
Mai: "Are you home?"
Y/N: "Yeah, I just woke up."
Mai: "Come over."
She hung up, and then you placed your phone down with a sigh. This was the first time Mai had told you to 'come over', and it was usually the other way around, with her being the one that would go to your place in times like these. When you stood up, you grabbed your phone again and checked the time. It was 5:20 am.
Y/N: "Oh shit, I probably woke her up. I'm stupid."
A couple of minutes later, someone knocked at Mai's door. She opened it, and saw you looking even more exhausted than the day before.
Y/N: "It's nice to see your face."
Mai: "It's nice to see yours too. Even if you look like a disaster."
Y/N: "Relentless, like always."
This was the very first time you had visited your girlfriend's place, and so when you walked in, you realized it was way too big a place for one person to live in. It had three rooms, a living room, a dining area, and a kitchen. There was a fashionable island-style kitchen, and in the living room were sofas, a table, and a TV, the bare minimum household furniture. They were all a calm wood-colour, and there was also a robot that looked like a UFO going across the floor and cleaning it.
Mai led you to the living room, where you and her sat on the sofa, right next to each other.
Y/N: "This place is... something else. How much do you pay for rent?"
Mai: "Nothing."
Y/N: "Huh."
Mai: "I bought it."
Y/N: "Ah."
It shouldn't come as a surprise anymore that an actress that started from a very young age would have the money to buy the flat she lived in. It was definitely something interesting to note.
Mai: "That's your only impression? I thought you'd be happy I let you into my home."
Y/N: "You would kill me if I entered your bedroom. Besides, I'm not really in the mood."
Mai: "You're always in the mood."
Y/N: "I guess you're right. Can I go into your bedro—"
Mai: "No."
Y/N: "Okay then."
Mai's expression changed, although not much, into one of worry. It was understandable, you looked like shit, and so, she was willing to do anything to help you with this situation.
Mai: "When did this start?"
Y/N: "A week ago."
Mai: "What have you done to deal with it?"
Y/N: "Close my eyes."
Mai: "Of course, you would do that."
Mai sighs, now being put in the spotlight since she had to be the one to find some sort of cure for your insomnia. She sat there, just thinking, while you stared at her and admired her beauty.
Mai: "Stop staring at me with those perverted eyes of yours."
Y/N: "Sorry."
Mai: "Have you tried different places to sleep in?"
Y/N: "I have tried the floor, and my table. But I haven't tried your bed yet."
Mai: "Try this couch."
Y/N: "Wow, direct hit."
Mai stood up to give you more place to lie on the couch. Although it was just as comfortable as your bed, the lack of space made it obvious that you would probably fall if you ever had a nightmare.
Mai: "Close your eyes."
Y/N: "This isn't going to work."
Mai: "Not if you don't close your eyes."
You did as your girlfriend told you, and closed your eyes. She observed carefully to see if something strange happened.
Mai: "I told you to close your eyes."
Y/N: "They're closed."
Mai: "Your right eye is looking at my legs."
Y/N: "Had to look at something I liked so I would dream about it."
Mai: "You like my legs more than me... to be expected, I guess."
Mai kneeled down beside you, and with your eyes closed, she took this opportunity to hold your hand and stay close to you. Mai knew she wouldn't get a chance like this anytime soon, and as embarrassing as it may be, she decided to kiss your cheek.
You felt the sensation of her lips as it brushed against your right cheek.
Y/N: "Only the cheek?"
Mai: "You're supposed to be sleeping."
Y/N: "You know people don't fall asleep that fast."
Mai: "Well, just... keep your eyes closed."
That last part had been whispered into your ear by Mai, who got closer and decided to, very gently, kiss you right where she had wanted to for a while now, as much as she didn't show her enthusiasm for it when being around you.
There were very few intimate moments like these, and she was savoring every second. Once she was done, she moved away a bit and waited for your reaction, but you didn't say anything.
Mai: "Y/N?"
She thought you had fallen asleep, which was strange for her since she had never seen anyone fall asleep from a kiss before. It just took you a while to process the whole thing, so when you opened your eyes and looked at Mai, you smiled.
Y/N: "Yeah?"
Mai: "I thought you fell asleep."
Y/N: "It definitely felt like I was in a dream."
Mai: "You are... weird."
Y/N: "Even my flirting gets neglected."
That was when a smile appeared on Mai's face. A loving smile that was like seeing an angel before you.
After this, you managed to sleep just fine, and whenever the world allowed it, you would have a sleepover with Mai every once in a while, on the couch.
Because she liked being really close to you.
