Chapter 42
They all had something to say, how they protected me and Alex and Rose but somehow my mind keeps saying (It wouldn't have happened it Alex never met me). My heart continuously keeps replaying that until I felt a rose stir in my arms. I looked down at my princess no word could describe how much love I was feeling for her. She is my baby. My rose. She looked so uncomfortable so without thinking twice I stood up on my shaking legs. I looked at everyone.
"l think I should put her to bed," I said and slowly turned around making my way toward the same room where they have kept rose. I closed the door behind me and turned to find a small nursery for my baby girl. Walls were pink and it looked so pretty how could I have not observed it when I came here previously. I shove that thought aside and gently laid Rose on her bed. I tucked her in and placed a gentle kiss on her head. My heart fell when I heard her mumble "Mama" in her sleep. After making sure she is safe and sound I made my way back to the hall. Before I can continue, I took a huge bottle of bourbon out and filled my glass. Chugging it all in one go I sat down on the single couch away from everyone.
I signal Roman to continue. To which he nodded his head and continued.
"Xavier followed you until we were sure you were ready and then break the new about you to Alex. We knew it the moment he finds out where you are there will be no stopping him. So, when you were stable enough, we told Alex about your wear about. Just like we knew, he travelled to you without thinking about the consequences and somehow that news also fell into your uncle's ears. Scared for his position in Brawtwas he orders his men to follow you and Alex. My first instinct was when we were attacked in our hotel while coming to you but we thought it was a mistake but then after following some dead lead we found that I was right indeed." Roman said looking at me with unknown emotion.
"We had an insider on our side who keep telling our plans to your uncle. So, we have to find out who that was but before we could do so you got your memories back and you ran away." Roman said. "Do you even know how hard it was to track you back?" He glared at me like it was my fault. So, I glared back. "Continue the dam story Roman, I don't think you have any rights to be angry on me," I said my voice was so still and raw it scared me how much it sounded like a dead me.
He closed his eyes and the moment he opened them up I saw Raw pain. A pain I only saw once before and that was when he kissed me in Alex's house. "We found you but we wanted to make sure we don't get you caught up in our mess, but it was like you attract trouble. Your uncle got to you and you end up killing Venessa. We were on a foreign border so it was not easy for us to evade the charges and shift the government focus from collapsed Bratwas. Bratwas was one of the oldest mafia groups after all. We moved the responsibility of Bratwas to our friend Gustafson. After that, we just didn't want to force you into the truth because as per the doctors your brain was still fragile and you could end up forgetting it all. So, we let you pursue your life the way you wanted." He completed.
"So I had to let you go, Again....." Alex said. His eyes lifting of the floor to meet mine. They were red and scared. "I let you go once again so you could heal but I couldn't let you go. I saw you from afar while you pursue your education. I saw your progress in education and I each day you made me so proud and made my love increase." He stood up from the ground slowly walked toward me. He kneels in front of me as a lone tear fall from his eyes.
"That day in your room when you said I should file those divorce paper it broke me but just to keep you happy I did that too. I set you free but I don't think I can ever let go of you my queen. I know I have put you through worst of worst but I am ready to make amends with you. I am ready to lay my life on your feet and I am ready to embrace your any and every punishment you could come up with, but the reason why we are all here and are telling you this is because we want you to forgive us, Love. We don't deserve it but we hope you could find it in your heart to forgive us." Alex said slowly looking back at everyone. He then Helps me up pulling me toward everyone. I didn't even know I was crying until Shawna came to me and wiped my tears.
"Forgive me Ray but I did it because I love you, my girl. You don't even know how much I use to miss you when I was raising Rose alone away from all these jerks." That made me chuckle as I hugged her hard. My sobs broke through my mouth as slowly everyone came and hugged me and asked me for my forgiveness one by one. I don't know why but I just couldn't find it in my heart to not forgive them.
They saved me and my baby. I'm alive because of them yes, they did put me in this shit but if it wasn't for them, I don't think I could have ever found out the reason for my parent's death. Or my little Rose. I looked around the room but I found one person missing.
"Where is Asling?" I asked. I saw Xavier freeze the moment I took her name. They all looked at me with frightened eyes. Xavier looked at me and then looked away as a tear fell from his eyes.
"She was the one who betrayed us Cara mia." Xavier choked on his words. My eyes went wide at his confession.
"What?" I asked still not believing his words. That is when Ryland Spoke. "She was the one who was leaking info to Bratwas about you and Alex family" I didn't even realize he was still here and out of all of them he was the only one who hasn't said anything.
"What do you mean?" I asked in a small voice. I looked at Shawna who keeps rubbing in assurance.
"Asling was my sister. Well, sort of sister as we were not blood-related. I was young when Bratwas took me in and Asling took me under her wing she used to train me. I found out about her new mission and I knew it was wrong and about what she was doing." He chuckled. "it's funny how much she changed but she did all that to save me. Your uncle used me as leverage over her and made her do all the dirty work. When she found out about rose it broke her. I still remember that night when it all happened." He signed.
"Your uncle found out about rose and was planning to kill her, Asling put up a fight and informed everything to Xavier." His eyes travel to Xavier whose eyes were on the floor. As many more tears made its way down his face.
"I let her down Cara mia. She called me and told me everything and I was so mad at her that I left her. I left her to die. She fought your uncle and leaked his plan info to me. We were able to save Rose however Aisling's betrayal to your uncle did not settle well with him. He shot her in her heart five bullets. Each bullet for each voice mail she left me saying how sorry she was." A chill ran down my spine at that. Aisling betrayed us but she saved my rose. I quickly ran toward Xavier and captured his falling body in my embrace. His sob matches my own.
"I failed her too Cara mia. I failed her too" he keeps repeating. After a while, the whole thing became too heavy for me. I patted his head and watch him slowly push himself away. "Ryland ran away and found me we kept him hidden as well in hopes that it could make me feel less guilty. He wanted to study too as his life was also ripped away from him so when you decided to study in college, we thought what could be better than him being there as your guard. He was always there keeping us updated and protecting you." I looked at Ryland still not believing that this guy was part of a gang. I now realize how Xavier was not so shocked when I first introduced him to Ryland. How they both wanted me to work from Black industries.
It felt like I was never in control of my life at all. They all were driving my life. I was always in the back seat. I felt like a fool for a moment but then I realize that it's all wrong. They might be guiding me but they were all there protecting me like a parent would do.
I always thought I was alone in this world never thinking about how much I have sacrificed but never knew how many lives have been affected by me. How big sacrifices others made to keep me safe. Shawna, Xavier, Roman, Alex parents, Clayton, Ryland, and even Asling.
But one of the biggest sacrifices were made by Alex. He let me live to keep me happy he stayed afar. I knew he hurt me but now after listening to his reason I knew maybe I can't forget it but I forgive him. I forgive all of them. They bring me my biggest happiness. My Rose.
"I forgive you all" I mumbled while looking at all of them. A small smile made its way to Shawna. As she hugged me hard. I was feeling happy as I looked at all of them. I met their eyes and kissed them on their cheeks. Lastly, I walked toward Alex.
"Alex" I whispered his name when I was close enough. He looked at me with so much love I couldn't believe it was all real. He closed the distance by catching me in a tight embrace entrapping my lips in his. He kissed me hard breaking from my lips he kissed my face and then the crown of my head. "My queen please forgive me too, please forgive me for my sins, I don't deserve you I know, but I don't think I can live without you anymore." He said. His eyes were begging me for forgiveness. For love and I just couldn't take it anymore.
"I forgive you, Alexander William. I forgive you" I whispered back. He looked at me like he saw a ghost.
"What did you say?" He asked again looking like he couldn't believe what I just said.
"I forgive you" I repeated still looking in his eyes. his mouth opens then closed than open.
"Y.. yo... You forgive me" He repeated like a broken computer making me chuckle. I shrieked when I felt his lift me off the ground twirling me around making me laugh.
"She forgives me guys." He said laughing along with me "My queen forgave me" he put me down capturing my lips in another passionate kiss. As I broke from the kiss, I lean my body on his while he holds me up. I look at everyone present in that room. After so long time I felt complete. They all were standing there with a happy smile. It made me realize one thing that each one of us was somewhat broken. But we all together fix each other missing part. I saw shaw kiss Xavier on his cheek while Ryland stood beside Alex's dad who had his arms around him. Clayton stood in the corner slowly sipping on his bourbon. They were all My family now. Family!!
