Y/N POV
I woke up to the sound of many things cluttering around in the house. I spotted the empty bed belonging to my twin sister, Lana, and I started to remember what was going to happen today.
Today, my mother, Lana and I were going to Diagon Alley to prepare for our first year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
We are what's known as Half-blood wizards/witches, which is one of the more common bloodlines in the Wizarding World. Our father was a pure-blood wizard, while our mother is a half-blood witch. There are other pure-bloods, but they are more pompous and stuck-up snobs who love to talk crap about others and brag about themselves like the Malfoys. From what I knew about my father, Langden Lovegood, was that he wasn't like them.
He respected those who weren't pure-blood, which was one of the reasons my mother, Addison Lovegood fell in love with him. Our uncle, the brother to our father, Xenophilius Lovegood is also a pure-blood and also much like our father, who was married to another pure-blood, Pandora and had a daughter of their own named Luna, who Lana and I treat like our younger sister. Sadly, Aunt Pandora passed away when we were 10 and when Luna was 9.
But along with the pure-bloods (whether demented idiots or kind souls) were the Muggle-borns, the name due to the fact they were born to Muggle, or non-magical parents, but I think they are incredibly cool for having a place in our world and a chance to learn here as well.
Anyway, I got to the table with my mum and Lana to have breakfast, barely containing ourselves that we were going to Hogwarts. A couple of days ago, we got our acceptance letters, which was so exciting that I re-read the letter nearly everyday since then.

Dear Mr. Lovegood,
We are pleased to inform you that you have been accepted at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Please find enclosed a list of all necessary books and equipment.
Term begins on 1st September. We await your owl by no later than 31 July.

It was so exciting for me and Lana. We're twin siblings and we have a lot in common with each other, like reading books and playing Wizard's Chess, although I do have a bigger interest in Quidditch than her. As we finish up for breakfast, Mum tells us to get ready to go while she prepares the Floo powder. As we got everything ready, Mum gave us the bowl to take a handful of the sparking green powder.
"Now remember," Mum spoke calmly, "speak clearly before you drop the powder. Elbows tucked and eyes closed as you say it. You don't want to end up somewhere else, now do we?"
She said with a soft laugh. Lana and I each take a handful of the powder and step into our fireplace.
"Anyway, I'll let you two go first, I will see you there."
We both looked at each other with a grin on our faces and shouted,
"Diagon Alley!"
The powder drops from our hands and into the flames, changing the hue of the fire from it's normal reddish-orange to bright green and engulfing us into the flames and seconds later, we found ourselves in the magical town of Diagon Alley. A hand is placed on my shoulder and another on Lana's, revealing the person to be our mother.
"Beautiful, isn't it?" She says. "How about you go into Ollivanders for your wands while I get some money from Gringotts? Sounds like a plan?"
We both nodded and hugged her before she headed off to Gringotts. "Come on, Y/N." I turned to Lana, who was beaming with delight. "Let's go get our wands!"
Lana POV
Y/N and I walked into Ollivander's Wand Shop, which also held the sign, "Makers of Fine Wands since 382 B.C." The shop is very rustic and filled to the brim with wand boxes. Y/N is very surprised at the place, and frankly, so am I. They have been making these wands for a very long time. It would be very reasonable to see this many wands in a place like this. "So, where's Ollivander?" Y/N asked.
"I'm glad you asked, my young lad." A voice boomed through the shop. A man stepped out of the shadows of his doorway, revealing his white hair and brown overcoat. "Y/N and Lana Lovegood. I've been expecting the two of you." The man said. "My name is Garrick Ollivander."
"It's nice to meet you, sir, but how do you know the both of us?" I asked him.
"I know both of you because your father and uncle, Langden and Xenophilius had come here many years ago for their wands. Why, in fact, Y/N, you're a spitting image of him. And you, Lana, you look like your mother! But no doubt you both possess their intellect, now don't you!" Ollivander answers with glee.
"Oh, we never knew our father." Y/N says with a sad look. "He died when we were babies."
Ollivander retracts his smile and replaces it with a mournful look, similar to Y/N. "I'm sorry to have mentioned him, then. He was a great man, he was."
"It's ok, sir." Y/N says with a slight smile. "We do want to see what wand chooses us though, Mr. Ollivander! I can't wait!" I say, which earned an elbow nudge from Y/N.
"Oh, yes, of course!" Ollivanders says eagerly as he retreats to the shelves. He returns with two wands, both brown in color. "Twin wands, willow wood with dragon heartstring, 11 inches. These should be most suited for you." He says as he passes the wands to us. As the wand enters the palm of our hands, a light shines above us, revealing that the wand has chosen us.
Y/N beams with a smile as we exit the shops with Ollivander's best wishes and he continues to stare at the wand as we go to meet Mum at Madam Malkins. Due to my brother's forgetfulness, he bumped into someone, a girl with bushy brown hair and brown eyes, causing her to fall and drop her things out of her hands. He saw what he did and immediately went to help her up. I force back a laugh and went to help him.
Y/N POV
Jesus Christ, why am I so clumsy?
I bent down to help the girl up and helped her with her books and supplies.
'She does have a lot of books', I thought, 'She might be a bookworm like us.' As I stood up with the supplies I managed to pick up, I got to see who exactly I bumped into. She had bushy hair and was a little shorter than me, along with that, she wore a robe for Hogwarts. She was also kinda cute with those brown, warm, chocolate eyes...
"I'm so sorry, I-I usually look where I'm walking." I said to the girl. "Truly I a-am really s-sorry." Gosh, this girl was really cute, I don't really stutter.
"It's okay, I wasn't looking either." She says with a slight blush on her face as she spots the wands in our hands. "Are you both going to Hogwarts, too?" She asked us with a cute voice.
"Yeah, we are!" We said in unison. "We are really excited to start learning magic ." Lana says. "I'm Lana Lovegood, and that's my twin brother, Y/N."
I managed to croak a little, "Hello" as she introduced me.
"I'm Hermione Granger, it's nice to meet you both!" Hermione says she shook our hands.
'Her hand is so soft.' I thought to myself. 'Wait, what? What am I thinking? I'm just getting to know her.'
"I'm new to the Wizarding World," Hermione continues. "I'm a muggle-born, so this is all very new to me. It's all very interesting to me!" She also flashed a smile that made me less shy than I already was.
"The both of us are half-bloods, so we know a fair amount of magic. There's still some things we don't know." I say to Hermione. I was about to continue what I was saying, but I heard the all too familiar voice.
"Lana! Y/N!" Mum called out to us. "Come on, we still have some more things to get!"
Lana turned to Hermione. "We have to go now, but it was nice to meet you! Hopefully, we'll see you at Hogwarts!"
"It was nice to meet you both too! Oh and thank you, Y/N for helping me with my books." She says as she turns to me. "I hope to see you at Hogwarts, too!"
"Oh, uh, no problem! Happy to help!" I said as we waved goodbye and joined Mum to go to Madam Malkins.
"So, I see you both made a new friend! She's going to Hogwarts, too?" Mum asked the both of us.
"Yeah and also I think Y/N fancies her!" Lana teased.
"I do not! We just met her, shove off!" I said and she chuckled at me.
"Really!" She stared at me. "You think I didn't notice your massive blush on your face when she thanked you! And the way you looked when she smiled! You looked like a love-sick fool!"
"Shut up!" I whispered, but I couldn't help but laugh and blush at her statement.
We got our robes from Madam Malkins, measured magically to fit us perfectly, along with our books from Flourish and Blotts and to top it all off, Mum got us an early birthday present, which was on September 9th.
Two adorable cats: One who was white as snow and had amber eyes, which I took as my own and a gray one with patches of white, which Lana adored and named, "Patch", while I named mine, "Snowball". After we got all our supplies, we went back to our home through the Floo Network.
As we arrived, we started reading all the books and before you knew it, we finished them all. Hogwarts, A History was probably my favorite.
As the end of August rolled around, Lana and I felt prepared for Hogwarts. As we drove to King's Cross station, I thought to myself. 'I feel like it's going to be an amazing first year.'
Hermione POV
After I met the Lovegood twins, I got the rest of my supplies and got back to my home in London with my parents. They were completely excited that I was going to get another education and that I made some friends.
The twins were really nice, especially Y/N. He was really kind to help me with my books, which not a lot of people in primary school did, but he was different. I hope that I get to know him and his sister more when I get to Hogwarts. 'It's going to be really exciting to learn magic!' I thought to myself.
'Hopefully, it's going to be better than I think it will be.'
