* * Jake's POV * *
"Has anyone heard from Nicole?" Alice asks everyone but it was mainly directed to me.
"I saw her last night, and she texted me good morning but that was it..." I say as I swing my bag over my shoulder, "Why?"
"She didn't show up to Math this morning."
I stopped walking, "She didn't show up?"
Alice shook her head.
"Maybe she slept in?" Dan suggests.
"This is Nicole we are talking about," Asher adds.
"True. She did have a late night last night though," I add thinking about where she may be.
"Oh did she now?" Dylan coos as he elbows me.
"Yeah her mom was giving her a hard time," I say nonchalantly as I pull out my phone and dial her number but it went straight to voicemail.
"Is that it?" Dan asks.
"Yeah what else-" I look up from my phone and they are all giving me the look.
"Guys seriously?" I roll my eyes and shake my head, "Nicole and I are waiting. Get a life."
They all groan.
"Okay, why is everyone so interested in Nicole and I's sex life?" I question seriously.
Everyone just laughs and I roll my eyes as we head to Nicole's locker.
"Hey Guys," I hear from behind me.
"Nicole!" Alice cheers as she hears her voice.
"Heyyy," She says softly through a yawn, "I slept in and my phone never charged last night."
"See," Dan says with a smile.
"You okay? You never miss class," Alice asks.
"Yeahhh," She yawns again, "My mom kept me up all night with her party and then she made me clean everything at 4 in the morning."
"What the actual f*ck?" The boys shout.
She awkwardly laughs.
Poor thing. She looked exhausted. Her hair was in a messy ponytail and she had bags under her eyes.
I instantly take off my hoodie and put it on her, "Does this help?"
She smiles as she pulls the hoodie up, "Definitely. Just make sure I don't fall asleep in English."
"But your so cute when you sleep," I plead.
She shakes her head with a chuckle as she opens her locker and throws her books in it.
"Geez, girl your back must be killing you! How are you carrying three textbooks?!" Dylan shouts.
"Shhhh too loud," she says as she pulls the hood further over her eyes.
"Why didn't you just stay home and sleep?" I question.
"You think I would be here if I was allowed to sleep? My mom forced me to come, she wouldn't call me out."
"So ditch."
"Yeah right," She chuckles as she kisses my cheek, "My mom wouldn't stop yelling if I did anyways."
"So what's the deal with your mom?" Alice asks.
"You ask me," She says as she shuts her locker.
"Is she really that bad?" She asks.
"Drive me home and you'll see what I mean," Nicole adds.
Then the bell rang.
"Welp time for English," She groans.
We all head to our classes and agree to meet up for lunch.
"Here why don't you just hold onto me and rest your head on my arm. I'll guide you." I say with a smile.
She smiles back and instantly rests her head on me and closes her eyes.
I guide her down the hall and open the door before saying "Nicole we're here."
She opens her eyes and immediately asks, "What are we doing in the nurse's office?"
* * Nicole's POV * *
"What seems to the wrong?" The nurse asks.
"Uhhh-"
"She just passed out. I think she needs some time to rest, her mom kept her up all night. She has had a horrible headache all day," Jake says over me.
"Oh come here sweetheart," the nurse says as she gestures for me to sit in a chair, "Let me check your temp."
I open my mouth and she places the thermometer under my tongue.
She waits for it to beep before taking it out of my mouth and she reads "98.6"
"Do you have any Tylenol for my head?" I ask politely.
She nods as she opens a cabinet and hands me one.
We follow her to one of the beds in the corner, "Why don't you rest up here for a bit. I will check up on you soon."
The nurse turns to Jake, "Do you need a pass for class?"
"No," he says but I glare at him- "Yes M'am."
The nurse heads out to write his note.
"Sleep well okay Princess. I'll be back for you after class," Jake says as he kisses my head.
"Okie-" I say as I lie on the bed, "And thank you."
"Any time Princess," he says as he closes the curtain and leaves.
I close my eyes and finally take in the silence around me.
Last night was awful! Aside from the blaring music two people actually tried to come in my room to hook up!
I groan as I block out the images and try to fall asleep.
It didn't take long because before I knew it I was fast asleep.

"Is she still sleeping?" I hear someone ask as I slowly wake up from my amazing nap.
Why did I have to go to the bathroom? I would have slept until next year!
I groan as I get up and rush to the bathroom.
As soon as I'm done I rush back to the bed to sleep some more.
I throw myself onto the bed and close my eyes.
"You up?" I heard a deep voice say as they entered through the curtain.
"I wish I wasn't," I say I turn to face them, "Liam-" My jaw drops.
I turn to shout for the nurse but Liam instantly covers my mouth, "Shhhh I just want to talk."
I immediately bite his hand and he instantly drops his hand, "If you do that again I swear I'll kick you in the balls so hard you won't be able to walk for weeks."
He laughs and with a wink says, "You like it rough don't you?"
I nearly vomit in my mouth.
"Nurse Rose?" I call out for her.
Liam rolls his eyes and immediately rushes out of the nurse's office.
"Yes, Nicole?"
"I- I don't feel so good. Could you check my temp one more time?"
She nods, "Sure thing.
I let out a huge sigh as she leaves.
I freaking hate Liam. Who does he think he is? Thinking he can just waltz in here and talk to me. How dare he!
The nurse comes back and checks my temp. She assures me I do not have a temperature but just to get some more rest.
"Would you like me to call your mother?" She asks.
"NO!" I shout and immediately cough to cover it up, "Uhh- no thank you."
She furrows her eyebrows in confusion for a second before covering it up, "Alright I will check on you in a little bit. Get some rest."
I nod and go back to sleep.

I open my eyes and immediately feel refreshed! Thank god for Jake! I would have sat all through English.
I sit up and walk to the Nurse Rose, "I'm feeling much better. I think I'm ready to head to class now."
"Nicole, before you go, do you have a minute to chat?" She asks from her office and gestures for me to sit.
"Yeah," I say as I sit down.
"Is everything all right at home?" She asks cautiously.
"Oh yeah- my uh mom just got back from a business trip and had a party last night so yeah i didn't sleep too well but I'm okay. She just has jet lag and is stressed from work but hopefully, it will be okay soon!" I say in one giant fast breath.
She gives me a sad smile, "Alright, but do know my door is always open. Please come back if you need a safe place to talk confidentially."
I nod, "Thank you."
I stand up, "I should get to class now."
"It's actually lunchtime now Nicole."
"Lunch?! I slept through three periods?!"
She nods sadly, "You were exhausted. Try to talk to your Mom about... scheduling parties on a weekend, not a school night alright?"
I nod, "I uh will. Thank you."
And with that, I left.
I skipped down the hall as fast as I could to the lunchroom, but on the way, I was greeted by Ashley.
"Hey, Nicole. How are you doing? I saw you weren't in English you okay girl?" She asks warmly.
"Hi Ashley, thank you for asking. I was just at the Nurse's office but I'm fine."
Then my stomach grumbled, I say as a lion roars from my stomach "Yeah I forgot to each breakfast this morning."
We both laugh.
"Man I just ate my last chocolate bar or I would have given it to you." Ashley frowns.
"It's okay. I still have one from the last time. I'm going to eat it with my lunch!"
She smiles.
"See you around!" I say as I begin to rush to the cafe.
I turn a corner and find Liam at a water fountain. I immediately stop and turn in the other direction but he noticed me and began to follow me.
Welp cue my fight or flight response... and with that, I bolted down the hallway. Liam followed. I flew down the stairs and sprinted into the lunchroom.
I didn't care if everyone's eyes were on me. Their judgment meant nothing to me. I'll never see them again once I graduate anyways... unless they go to the same college as me... but even so I'll never know because I don't talk to them here.
I found Jake standing at our table with his back turned to me. I smiled as I picked up the pace towards him.
I instantly wrapped my arms around him and said: "Liam was chasing me!"
"What?!" Everyone shouts as they shoot their heads to find Liam resting against the cafe doorway with his arms crossed and a smug look on his face.
"Why that little piece of sh!t" Jake grunts as he starts to head his way with his hand in fists.
I followed after him but had to sit down, I was panting like a whale out of water. Man was I out of shape...
Dan, Asher, and Dylan all got up and followed after him cracking their knuckles and necks in the process.
After making sure I was okay Alice followed behind them strutting like a killer model.
Maybe I'll just start eating my sandwich and then join them...
I groan... no I'll let them handle it... but I will show my support by eating and watching.
I grab my sandwich and rush over to where a crowd has formed. I pushed my way to the front and took a bite out of my sandwich.
Jake and Liam were circling around each other while Dan, Asher, and Dylan stood angrily at the side... probably because Jake wanted to beat him up himself.
Normally I would break up the fight but with everything going on I just wanted to get in there and fight him myself... but I'll let Jake handle it.
"I thought I told you to leave her alone."
"But she's just so-"
PUNCH
Alice cheers loudly as Jake nails him right in the nose.
Liam throws a punch back at him which Jake effortlessly dodges.
"Stay-" PUNCH "Away-" PUNCH "From-" PUCNH "Her!" PUNCH
"GET HIM JAKE!" Alice yells.
Jake throws a punch and Liam dodges it while noticing me in the process.
"Come here girly," Liam says as he grabs my arm and pulls me into him. He swiftly twirls me around and holds his arm around my neck making it hard for me to breathe.
"Let her go!" Jake shouted as he started to run towards Liam.
While Jake was being all heroic I stabbed Liam in the eyes with my fingers and punched Him in his family jewels causing him to release me and him to fall to his knees.
Liam swings his leg around causing me to fall to the ground.
"Don't touch me!" I shout as I kick him one last time from the ground.
"What is going on here?" A teacher shouted as she pushed her way to the front.
"Liam," the crowd around us said in unison.
"Principal's Office now," she said to all of us.

Alice and I finally pulled up to my house, "I still can't believe Liam got suspended! About freakin time!"
We both laugh until we saw my mom standing on the porch with a death glare that could a million men.
"But seriously I think it's a good idea that you are going to file a restraining order."
"Me too," I say as we get out of the car and walk to my door.
"Nicole Evers you are banned from seeing Jake again!" She yells the second I step on the grass.
"Why?" I question.
"Because! He is a bad person!"
"For what finishing off Nicole's creepy stalker?" Alice says sternly while crossing her arms.
"And who are you?" My mom asks as she eyes Alice up and down.
"I'm Alice. Nicole's Best Friend. Nice to meet you too Mrs. Evers." She says sourly.
My mom rolls her eyes, "And you're banned from seeing her too!"
"WHAT?!" I shout.
She grabs my arm, drags me inside, and slams the door shut.
"Care to explain why I got a call from the principal's office that you were in a fight and missed all your classes?!"
"I was in the fight because that kid Liam harassed me on several occasions! Oh and I missed class because I was in the nurse's office sleeping because of your stupid party!" I shout back at her with angry tears in my eyes.
My mom glares at me. She grabs my ear and drags me to my room, "You are not allowed to come out until I say so!"
She pushes me in my room and slams the door shut.
I grunt as I flop on the bed and scream into my pillow.
I compose myself for a moment before dumping my bag on the floor and search for my phone.
I unlock it and immediately dial my dad's number.
"Hey honey!" He says as he answers the phone.
"Hey Day I-" I say but my door swings open and my mom runs in. She grabs my phone right out of my hands and says, "Hey sweetie sorry Nicole is doing homework right now. She needs to study. She can call you tomorrow. Bye, dear."
My mom hangs up and goes to my bag and takes my laptop too.
"What about my homework?" I shout.
"You should have thought about that before you became a nuisance to my life." She says as she struts out of my room.
"What?" I say breathlessly.
I'm a nuisance to my mom?
That's why is acting weird...?
I'm... A... Nuisance...

The rest of the week was rough. I was only allowed to see anyone at school because my mom had no control over that.
They weren't allowed to bring me home either... I was forced to take that awful school bus.
In the house my contact with my mom was minimal.
I would go home and immediately go to my room.
Sometimes my mom wouldn't be home at all.
Sometimes Jake would sneak into my room and be with me for a while... thankfully my mom never caught us. I would hate to hear that argument.
I was starting to feel like Cinderella a little bit.
On top of that my grades were slipping because I wasn't allowed to use my laptop or go to the library after school.
Some of my teachers just thought I was making up an excuse and didn't give me an extension.
Doing homework without your laptop is sooo hard! I have to handwrite all my essays and presentations.
I stopped by the nurse once to talk about it but I was too scared she would call my mom so I said the bare minimum.
Whenever I come home from school I pray that she isn't home... most of the time she isn't... but if she is she is usually hosting a party and glares at me until I go into my room.
So this is what my life has become... But boy can I not wait until my Dad comes home!
Hopefully, it will be soon! I don't know how much more of this I can take.
