And the truth serum comes out
I said "Mom I want to be an artist,"
She said, "You won't afford your own house."
The next day she denied that
She ever said such a thing;
But she said it, and in my head
I will always hear it ring.
I have my path set in stone
And the building blocks have been ready.
If they come to knock it down
I know it will remain steady.
