It's not butterflies now
Not the ones that just appear
Like you can't control them.
Because I can.
The waiting
Like a waterfall to end
Has turned to watching
Admiring
Intrigued by the constant
Flowing.
It's not the butterflies now,
Not like it used to be.
Now, you're there
Though not as much
As I'd like
I hold myself back,
Like a restraint
On a roller coaster
Up and down
But never dangerous.
Not dangerous
Like love can be.
I back away
More than I move forward
Take it slow
Less is more
But every day it's like new
But every day it's still you
I've acted for so long
The butterflies are gone
There's no guessing
No uncontrolled wishing
No crushing hopes
No, none, but...
There's one
Still something in me
Something like the voice
Like the eyes
Like you.
