Just today, I stepped into
Shimmering, glistening, water blue.
I looked upon my reflection
And I saw nothing new.
I saw the thin but shiny hair,
With little strands, free in the air-
The brown a subtle, darker color,
Glasses, without glare
Almond eyes observe the view,
Deep brown lands its eyes on blue,
Head turns quickly, looks away
Acts and spies on cue.
I run and run, but do not chase,
Not that blue-eyed, blond-haired face,
I take a cover: compete, conquer;
I'm in it for the race.
Just this evening, I stepped away
From all the blue that came my way,
I looked upon my reflection
And then I looked away.
