so i saw this "haikyuu characters as your boyfriend" on facebook and i just had to write a sugawara one. enjoyyyy
sugawara's pov
a lot has happened throughout these years, and this year brought all the best. well i guess majority of it,, my third and last year of highschool. met amazing people and i guess my volleyball career is going well.
i'm on my seat, listening to some songs with my earphones on, hoping no one disturbs me. but then i guess i'm wrong. "grandpa heyyyy." i heard her but i ignored her. "you little prick did not just ignore me?" oh yes i did, plus you're the little one. she then pulled out the one off my right ear.
"oh hey, did you say something?" she glared at me. "bitch i wanna punch you in the face." i tilted my head, pretending to know nothing. "fine, i'll shut up." i innocently put my earphone back on, but boy inside i was laughing.
some time later, the professor came and so class started. i really keep my eyes on the speaker, especially when i'm away most of the times because of our volleyball matches. i write my notes, so i could study them while i'm away, but i can't do that if she's bugging the hell out of me.
"hey hey hey, grandpaaaa. notice me. hey." she kept poking me, but i of course ignore her. "(y/n) get out of the classroom, now!" i guess our professor took notice of what she was doing. i felt her tense up, i looked at her and she looked like she was about to cry. "if you bother anyone again, not only in my class, but also in others. i will have you suspended."
that hurts. she slowly stood up and left the room. after the class ended she came back in, daichi approached her. well they're twins. "d-daichi i.. if i get suspended mom will.." she was sobbing, this girl is so hard to comprehend. "hey, calm down. remember i told you to focus in class, i told you not to bother my friend."
"yeah don't." i said and daichi glared at me. i looked away. "your grades are failing, and i can't help you right now." she was just crying. "hey stop crying.." ryuki hugged her, well they're bestfriends.
daichi was approaching me, i couldn't feel more tense. "sugawara." i looked at him. "what? why? how?" i just randomly said stuff, this dude's scary when he's mad. "can i ask for a favor?" i just looked at him, must not be what i'm thinking of right now. "what is it? please don't..."
"just help me, for my sister's sake. i mean help her for her sake. can you tutor her? you guys are seat mates anyway." i just looked at him. "puppy eyes won't get you out suga." i glared at him. "i did not. but you know how hard it is for me to handle your sister." someone take me home please.
"i'll treat you, anything. until nationals." i smiled, i stood up and patted him on the back. "that's what i'm talking about." he smiled. "thanks, i owe you a lot." oh you do.
other classes passed and now it's lunch. our lunch is usually an hour long, well it is. so i stop (y/n) from going anywhere. "hey (y/n)-san.. after eating you come back here, i'll tutor you. since your brother told me to, and because we have a quiz in math later." she just looked at me.
"how much time do i have?" she asked, she looks rather annoyed. "25 minutes." she rolled her eyes and left. i went out as well. someone swing an arm around my shoulder, i swear i was pulled down. "oh hey chibi-chan." i teased. "frick off dude." she laughed, she's asuki. my bestfriend, besides daichi and asahi.
"let's go eat, i only have 23 minutes left." i said, rushing to the cafeteria. "why you such in a hurry?" she chuckled and tried to catch up. "i'm tutoring (y/n)." i said, she stayed quiet. "hey." i said, waving my hand in front of her. "oh sorry. koshi i.. i wanna tell you something."
we were walking to a table, and i sat down and she sat in front of me. "what is it?" she blinked a few times, took a deep breath. "i like you." she likes- what. i swear i felt my heart race. am i flustered? or do i like her back? or am i just caught in a tight spot.
"hey koshi?" she called me. i didn't answer. "eat, you might be hungry." i said, i'm so confused. i ignored her, for a while. "hey don't take what i said too serious-"
"i will, because it's about your feelings." i said and kept eating. i felt someone approaching me. i looked up to see who it is. "get up, let's go back to the classroom." it was (y/n), and she pulled me by my arm. "your food." i hear asuki say but this girl's just pulling me.
"what the hell? can you at least let me drink water?" i said, coughing from choking on my food. "i'll be back, stay here." she said. a few minutes later, she came back with coke and water. "choose." she held the bag in front of me. "water." she took it out and gave it to me.
"so let's start?" she asked and i just nodded, since when the hell did she have this motivation?
actually maybe teaching (y/n) isn't that bad, she listens well. i also think that she's actually very smart, she got everything in one try. i was writing something on her notebook so i could let her try to study it, "hey why don't you study more? you're actually pretty smart, but you just don't-" i looked at her and she was asleep. peacefully asleep beside me.
"hey we still have-" i got cut off by daichi's shh. "don't wake her up, it's a problem with her brain. when she studies, for just a short time, she falls asleep. something in her brain is triggering that to happen. she might get in trouble again, she'll probably not wake up, until class hours are finished." and i what?
"then why did you ask me to tutor her?" he sighed. "i'm sorry, she can wake up if you wake her up. but she won't remember a thing that she studied." and yet again i'm utterly shocked. "it's that bad? why don't you take her to the hospital?" daichi looked sad. "it's incurable, and she's insecure about that the most. i'll wake her up so she won't be all over the place."
this bitchy ass girl actually has a very interesting side of her, it's rather sad. daichi was waking her up. "lil sis wake up.. mom's here." her eyes started tearing up. "why is she crying?" i asked, i'm actually worried. "our mom's actually dead, and everything going on with her brain when studying, connects to her death. it started since then, and through too much mental pain, she started to forget that she doesn't have a mom anymore."
"that's why, i hope you understand her more. don't hurt her feelings, she's very delicate in the inside, but she's strong outside. but really to me, she's just a child. a seven year-old child is how i still think of her even if she's a grown woman now." this just went from one to a hundred real quick.
"(y/n)~ lil sis wake up.. we'll go to disneyland." she opened her eyes and slowly sat up straight. "what happened?" she touched her face. "why am i crying?" daichi smiled at her. "it's nothing, try to read the notes. don't fall asleep, you can pass that math quiz." daichi pinched her cheek, and she nodded.
"uhm hey (y/n), should i just tutor you tomorrow? since it's saturday tomorrow?" she nodded, and smiled. "thanks for these." i could see two girls, a child and this teenager. i felt someone's eyes were on me so i looked to see who it is, it's asuki, when i saw her i smiled at her. she smiled back and went back to studying.
i completely forgot about her confession. i don't really think of her that way. so i sent her a message. "give me some time to think, okay?" and she replied. "okayy." i don't wanna hurt her feelings.
the day finished, after training practice and at last i am home. the day passed and now i'm in front of daichi's home. i rang the doorbell and i found daichi in front of me. "heyy." he looked shocked. "wow you're early, come in. (y/n)'s room is upstairs to the right, knock before you enter." he said and i nodded.
i went to her room and knocked on the door (her door was open). "oh hey come in, close the door too." i nodded. "so do you want to start now?" i ask, and she just looked at me. "well of course, what else?" i chuckled at her statement.
i taught her a few things on science and math, she seemed to be doing pretty well. she is actually really smart. "hey (y/n), do you wanna take a break-?" she's asleep. i looked at her, i actually find her pretty. i brushed her hair behind her ear. i carefully reached for her eyelashes and tried to count them, she twitched.
"don't do anything to my sister." i flinched, this daichi scared the heck out of me. "bitch, can you not do that?" i whispered to him. "just joking, it's alright if you like her, just don't hurt her." i rolled my eyes and he quietly chuckled. "is this why you're early?" i looked at him and nodded. "if i taught her earlier, and she slept now, she could get up and i could refresh her." he smiled at me.
"thanks man, i really owe you." i mouthed no prob and he left. i sighed. "so is this why you're bitchy most of the time? to protect yourself?" i whispered to myself, admiring her. "you're trying to discard the past, making you forget them.. damaged your mental health, so now you're like this." i continued to brush her hair. when she held my hand.
"mom, don't die please. we can escape the kidnapper." she cried, my eyes widened. she was kidnapped? "no.. mom.. no.. don't shoot mommy." she kept crying, i held her hand tight and hugged her. she kinda stopped. i carried her and placed her on the bed.
i want to protect you. but knowing there's also someone else waiting, asuki i. i continued to write notes, when a few hours later i hear her yawn. "you're awake?" she nodded, rubbing her eyes as she sat up. "why are you being nice?" she randomly asked, i turned around and looked at her. "because you're a nice girl." she raised her brow.
"because i don't like being an asshole." i smiled, and she looked down. "i'm sorry, i was always mean to you, calling you names." i shook my head, "i'm fine. i get the grandpa part because of the silver hair, right?" she chuckled and nodded. she went up to me and played with my hair, "like just look at this, it really looks like my grand.. pa's.." her face was very close to mine.
she blushed. she i guess felt embarrassed so she stood up. "l-let's continue studying..". i nodded. i wrote some notes for her on her notebook, and she read some of the worksheets. "suga-kun can i borrow your notebook?" i handed it to her, still have my eyes glued on her notebook. i saw her writing something but i ignored it.
a little while teaching her things, and her studying the worksheets, she once again fell asleep. well it's okay since it's nighttime now but, "you haven't even eaten anything yet." i said to myself, i sighed and carried her back on to her bed.
i went downstairs, "hey daichi, i'll get going." he nodded and smiled. "thanks again." he said. "no prob, also bring food in her room. she hasn't eaten anything yet so, bring some while she's asleep." he nodded and i went home.
on my way home, i stopped by 9 eleven, and there i saw asuki. "koshi.." she looked happy, but i feel like i wanna tell her. "hey asuki." i smiled at her. "have you thought about it?" i guess she brought it up first. "actually yes, i have.." i said as i picked out some chips. "so what's your, answer..?" i sighed and looked at her. "asuki, i love you and all, well you're my bestfriend. but i don't think i want to be in a relationship with you."
"is it (y/n)?" she asked, she sounded more serious. "it's always been her right? even if she tried to annoy you and bully you, calling you names.. the way you look at her, it's just different." she said. "asuki, I'm really sorry." she sighed and smiled, it's forced. "it's alright, i'll see you in school."
time passed by, asuki and i still hangout as if nothing happened which is great. i still help (y/n) with her studies, only teach her for 10 minutes so that she doesn't fall asleep. she's been actually praised a lot recently. but it's kinda sad since we'll be leaving now for tokyo.
she's hear to say goodbye, i guess. "daichi, i'll come to watch. i'll come within tanaka-kun's sister." daichi nodded and hugged her. "you be careful okay?" she nodded and now she's walking up to me. "hey.. suga-kun." i chuckled at how awkward she is. "hey, don't study while i'm gone, you might fall asleep and get in trouble." she chuckled. i opened my arms and she hugged me. "stay safe and don't be nervous for the match." she said and i nodded.
"ooOooooOh! suga-san!! why are you stealing daichi-san's sister???!" hinata asked. these kids. "i thought we were all shimizu kiyo-" daichi covered tanaka's mouth and pulled him into the bus. "sorry about that.. call me if anything bothers you, okay?" she nodded and i went in the bus as well.
hours later, we got to the inn. i took out my notes and studied. "suga-san, a+ for effort." kinoshita said. "well i don't like missing out." i chuckled. my phone vibrated, it was (y/n) calling. i answered it and went outside.
"hey suga-kun." her voice's shaky. "hey, you alright? is it cold there?" i ask, maybe she isn't wearing enough to keep her warm. "i'm fine, what are you doing?" i feel worried. "i was studying.. you?" she really sounds like she's not alright. i hear a little whimper from her i think. "oh i just finished eating, hang on. i actually gotta go. i'll see you tomorrow. i'll cheer you on, 'kay?"
"mhmm, bye." i said and she hung up.
something feels wrong, i ignore it and went back inside. hid my notes and went to sleep. i guess i need energy for tomorrow.
while waiting, we were warming up. i heard some cheers. i looked up to see asuki, ryuki, some other girls, and... (y/n)..? she's wearing a mask and a cap. "daichi look at your sister." i tell him. "maybe she has pimples, again." i rolled my eyes at his statement. how can he be so lenient when i feel so restless?
"sugawara-kun, (y/n) texted 'don't worry about me and focus on winning your game.' here." shimizu said. i shook my head, i sighed. "what's wrong with her?" i can't keep my eyes off her. something's extremely wrong.
some time later, we won the match! kinda hella pumped, i went out and changed, then i went to the bleaches to greet the girls, well (y/n). i got there and asuki hugged me. "hey! you guys were great!" she smiled and i nodded. "nice game bro." ryuki said and i smiled. i walked up to (y/n), and pulled her outside.
i pulled her out of the venue. we're at the rooftop. "show me your face." she shook her head. "i got pimples." i scoffed. "you're lying, i saw you with pimples before but you never hid them." i said. "i won't show you." i sighed, i cupped her cheeks. "show me." i said, looking into her eyes.
she gave in and hesitantly removed the cap, then the mask. "(y/n).." her face, she has a cool fever/cool it on her forehead, which means she has a fever. moreover, her cheeks look puffy, and somehow looks bruised. "what happened?" for fucking, i told myself i wanted to protect her but here she is in front of me.
"did asuki do this?" she didn't answer. "answer me." i said sternly, she was crying. "i told you to fucking answer me, i won't be able to help you if you won't tell me." she cried. "yes, it's asuki. she burned my jacket last night, took away my shoes, threw my earmuffs into the garbage bin. at school she slapped me in the face multiple times, suga i.."
i didn't know what to do so i just hugged her tight. "cry. it's okay to cry." she looks so delicate. "suga-kun, d-did you know that i always tried to pretend that i'm s-strong? i-i always, t-tried to make people fear me so they won't hurt me.. but look at me." i tried my best calming her down.
"follow me." i held her hand and went inside, i brought her to daichi. "asuki hurt your sister, it's because of me." he looked so worried. "(y/n)." he hugged her, i messed my hair up in frustration. i saw asuki approach me and i immediately ask her. "why did you hurt (y/n)?" she stopped walking. "if you're mad at me rejecting you, hurt me. not her."
"but why is it her?" she asked. "you don't know anything about her. so please, if you ever hurt her again, i might forget that you were a friend." i pulled (y/n) out and went to the park. i may not be allowed to do so but yeah.
we sat on a bench, i still was holding her hand. "suga-kun, why are you acting like this?" she asked. "is it not obvious?" i looked at her and brought my face closer to hers. "i like you, a lot. i want to protect you." she just looked at me. i leaned in and kissed her, i cupped her cheek and i just continued to kiss her.
she pulled away, "why?" i asked. "w-why do you l-like me?" she asked. "because you're you." but actually because i can't afford to leave you alone knowing that anything bad can happen to you. she smiled. "what kind of bad?" huh? "you thought you were thinking? you said it out loud." she gave me a peck on the lips. "thank you."
"let's get to the inn. you rest there." she nodded and we headed back. just a few minutes after we arrived, she fell asleep. i pulled a blanket over her and i went to study.
i opened my notebook when i saw something. "hello~ thanks for being nice.. again sorry for calling you names. i did just for you to notice me, actually your bestfriend hates me.. haha, but i like you. i always wished i could get closer to you. thanks, also, um. yeah thanks." i read it to myself.
