It was late by the time customers had all left. Your shift was technically meant to end at 7 pm but you worked overtime in order to get the pay and agreed to lock up.

When you stepped outside, Tendo was waiting for you. "Since when do you work here, (f/n)-chan?"

"I-uh. It's been a few weeks."

"So what happened to the job at the pharmacy?"

"I quit a while back. It was boring."

"So why did the staff tell me you've been working extra shifts lately?"

"Satori!"

"What?"

"Stop acting like my dad. I can work wherever I want."

"I never said you couldn't, (f/n)-chan. I just need you to stop lying to me." He said, his voice much softer now.

"I— Satori, I'm sorry."

"Stop hiding things from me, okay?"

"I'll try." You lied again.

"I can tell you don't mean that."

"Shut up." You mumbled.

Tendo and sighed and ruffled your hair. "Just remember that I'll be here for you okay?"

You nodded. "I'll keep that in mind." You said while fixing your hair. "Thanks Satori."

"Anytime, sis."

You looked around in a panic and sighed in relief when you saw that no one was around. "If someone heard that, I'd beat the living daylights out of you Satori."

"Ouch, do you hate me that much, sis?"

"Shut up. I just don't want people to know." You mumbled.

"It's okay, (f/n)-chan. I get it." Tendo smiled softly at you. "Is there anything I can do?"

"Grab a drink with me."

He looked taken aback. "I will not support my sister in her decision to drink away her problems."

"Suit yourself. I'm drinking either way, I just thought you'd want to keep your sister company but I guess not huh? See you later Satori." You shrugged, walking away.

"You little shit— I know exactly what game you're playing right now and it's working! Wait up." He grumbled and followed you.

You smirked triumphantly. "Thanks broski, I knew you cared."

"Did you just acknowledge that I was your br—"

"Half brother. And no, I call everyone bro. Girls included. Don't get your hopes up." You interrupted.

"Whatever you say sis." He said, ruffling your hair and skipping ahead of you to the nearest convenience store.

You scoffed. "How old is he, like 5? What a dumb thing to be excited over." But you cracked a small smile despite.

At least he's doing well. Despite— well, despite everything.

"(F/nnn)—"

"Satori, I swear I will end you. I'm going to bring you home okay?" You pulled Tendo up from his seat, leaving behind the money for the drinks as well as a tip as an apology for the nuisance you two were being in public.

"(F/n)! I—"

"Satori, quit acting drunk before I kick you. I know you're fine." You sighed.

"You see right through me don't you?" Tendo chuckled, pulling his act together. "I just didn't want you to get drunk."

"Yeah I figured." You sighed. "Next time, do me a favour and just refuse if I tell you to drink with me you ass."

"Fat chance! I'll take every chance I can to be with my precious little sis." He teased, ruffling your hair.

"Satori i will break your hand." You warmed and he pulled his hand away in surrender.

"Hey (f/n)." He said after a while.

"Hm?"

"Do you hate me?"

Your head snapped up. "What?"

"Have I done something to you? Are you ashamed of me? Mad even?"

You shook your head frantically. "Oh god no. Satori where even are you getting these ideas? Don't tell me you're drunk after all."

He chuckled. "Maybe a little tipsy."

"I don't hate you, not in the slightest." You sighed. "I don't like people knowing things about me, that's all."

"What do you mean?"

"If people find out our dad is that psychopath, they'll go crazy. We'll either be feared and put in the same category as him, or mocked and looked down upon, maybe even bullied. Some will pity us. But I don't want any of that attention, I just want to carry on living." You explained.
"I'm sorry if it feels like I'm embarrassed by you, I'm not. I just can't afford to let people know about me Satori."

"I think I might let you drink more often." Tendo commented.

"Huh? What's that supposed to mean?"

"You're more talkative this way. It's sort of cute."

"Shut up Satori, I was trying to be serious for once." You mumbled, and Tendo only chuckled in response. The rest of the way to your house was mainly quiet, but neither of you cared. It wasn't uncomfortable, both of you were lost in your own thoughts.

You came to a stop outside your door and turned around to say bye to Tendo. "Thanks for walking me home dad. You can go back now."

Tendo opened his mouth to say something back but froze when he heard a loud noise from inside your house. It sounded like shattering glass. The two of you exchanged a nervous glance, but you already knew what was laying in store inside.

Still hesitant though, you unlocked the front door and stepped inside. The lights were already turned on and you wondered why you hadn't noticed that earlier. These were all warning signs.

The entire living room was a mess, with the TV screen shattered, the books from the bookshelf scattered across the floor and worst of all was the kitchen.

Cups and plates were all broken, but the most damage was done to the window. It was smashed open and sharp shards of glass lay everywhere. Tendo was horrified. "It's him isn't it?"

You nodded weakly, too overwhelmed to manage to do anything else. "Let's go to my house. My mom is probably waiting for me anyway, she wouldn't mind having you over."
Once again, all you managed was a weak nod and allowed yourself to be dragged to Tendo's house by the arm, the image of your living room in that chaotic state never once leaving your mind.

Tendo called the cops to check out the scene and told them his house address in case they needed to ask any questions.

Tendo's mom gushed over you, asking a million questions out of both worry and curiosity, but Tendo managed to convince her to let you go to bed. "She's shocked, mom. Let her get some rest."

You took the guest room, Tendo's mom brought in pillows and a duvet. "Just give me a shout if you need anything else love." She smiled softly before saying good night and closing the bedroom door behind her as she left.

You still hadn't uttered a single word since what you saw, and now that you were alone in the room, the fear kicked in. Hugging your knees close to your chest, you sobbed silently, shaking while trying to control your tears.

"M- mama." You whispered. "I'm so scared."
