I got a secret letter last night to come to a tea house. I got up early today so no one would see me leaving the castle. I knew where I was going and who I was meeting.
I slipped out of my room and out the castle, running quietly through the empty town.
I made it into town but little did I know that someone had seen me
"I wonder where the fireball is off to in such a hurry" Nobunaga said to himself with a smirk on his face turning around with a flourish of his Haori knowing all to well where she was going.
I made it to the place that was mentioned in the letter. Walking in the tea house, I started to look around trying to be inconspicuous and that's when I spotted him sitting up a table with a drink of what I assumed to be tea. I ordered my drink and sat down at the table next to his, our backs facing each other.
"What brings you here, little mouse"
"I think you know the reason, Mitsuhide" I answered matter-of-factly.
"It's a pity this is the only way we can meet, right mouse?"
"I hope one day we don't have to hide our relationship" I answered him even though I was sure it was rhetorical.
I picked up my drink, swirled it around in the cup and sipped it
"One day, Y/n. Maybe things will be different"
"Then we can mov-"
All of a sudden I felt my vision spin, blacking around the edges. I couldn't talk anymore.
What is happening to me
"Y/n?"
I heard Mitsuhide say my name but I couldn't see him, the next thing I knew I was falling off my chair but I didn't hit the ground. I felt firm arms catch and hold me close.
"Y/N!!"
And then everything went black, I was floating around in a dark abyss in a tremendous amount of pain.
Mitsuhide POV
I'd caught Y/n as she had fell and now she was laying lifeless in my arms, her face was paler then usual, her lips slightly parted she was breathing very heavy and by the sound of it, it was difficult.
What had happened, how could I let this happen
I was falling apart inside but I have to stay together for Y/n
I had an inkling so I picked up her cup and brought it up to my face, I sniffed it
As I suspected her drink was poisoned with a rare powerful toxin.
By now everyone was looking my way and people were making there way over to see the commotion.
"Oh no, what happened?" a lady gasped as you she moved slower to inspect
"Whats wrong with her?" a young man asked
"Everybody stop drinking and eating, NOW!, They could be poisoned"
At my words everyone went silent and I saw panic in their faces as they stopped eating and the mothers got their children to spit out the food.
I cradled Y/n safely in my arms as I ran out the Tea Cafe and put her on my horse and mounted on behind her wrapping an arm protectively around her waist as I kicked the horse into a run heading straight for the castle.
With Y/n passed out on my horse it was very quiet, too quiet. I didn't realise how much comfort her voice brought me until now.
I know heading to Azuchi Castle would reveal our relationship but at this point I don't even care. I checked Y/n's pulse it was very weak and I didn't like that one bit. I urged my horse into a much faster gallop. At this point we were already in Azuchi's Castle town.
As Mitsuhide was riding by at to fast of a speed to make out any faces, Hideyoshi had saw him ride through the town because he was checking to make sure everyone was following the laws, Lord Nobunaga had set into place in Azuchi.
He stared after Mitsuhide "Is that Mitsuhide? Why is he in such a hurry?" He said to himself before deciding to head back to the castle early just in case.
We'd reached the bridge, Y/n's breathing was weak and I was really starting to worry. As I stopped the horse in front of the gates the guards rushed over.
"Lord Mitsuhide, What happened?"
I guess they could see the panic on my face.
At the same time Mitsunari and Ieyasu were coming over the bridge together as they were assigned a task together much to Ieyasu's dismay and had just finished it.
I got off my horse and picked Y/n up in my arms, she was so limp. I held her close as Ieyasu and Mitsunari and the guards ran up to us as I was walking fast into the castle.
Everyone had a look of confusion and worry on their faces, even Ieyasu.
I began to pour out everything I knew while we walked further in heading to the infirmary.
"Ieyasu, Y/n has been poisoned by what i think is a rare and very powerful poison I'm not sure she has much time left, You need to help her" I told him as he nodded his head, I'm trying to keep my worry inside.
We had reached the doors of the room. The guard that had followed us ran in front and held the screen door open for us.
I set Y/n down on the bed as Ieyasu started gathering herbs and equipment. Her eyes were still closed but she was moaning in pain now and I just knew how hard she was fighting. The thought nearly broke my heart, I'd never felt anything like that. It wasn't physical pain I didn't know where it was coming from, But it ripped through me like a blade.
There was no way I was going to leave that room, I moved to the back of the room as Ieyasu worked to save Y/n's life.
All I could think about was how I could of prevented this, if only I'd been more alert and more careful then Y/n would never have drunk that drink without knowing the danger it contained.
I was left too my own thoughts for way too long, Ieyasu worked over Y/n for hours. Getting her to drink different things, testing things out, studying her. It was dark outside and just the thought of the dark that I always felt so comfortable in was now suffocating me. I could only guess that the others had told Nobunaga what had happened and they were just staying away to let Ieyasu focus. Ieyasu barely said anything he had just spoke every now and then flinging questions at me.
"I've done what I can, the rest is up to her" Ieyasu whispered as he left the room and closed the door, but I heard him as though his voice was amplified.
Soon it was just me and Y/n.
It was really quiet now, Y/n lay unmoving on the futon and it looked like she would never wake.
I'm not feeling like myself, I knew this would happen if I let her in.
No one's POV
"Why did I do this to you?, I should have pushed you away" No tears were shed out of Mitsuhide's eyes because he cried on the inside. Mitsuhide was left alone silently to his own thoughts for far too long.
TIME SKIP
I slowly opened my eyes to see darkness, then my vision started to clear up and I could still see darkness but this time it was because it was night. I looked around, I didn't know where was I, I was scared.
Then I spotted Mitsuhide with his arms folded on the bed his head down.
Mitsuhide?, What's wrong with Mitsuhide?
"I'm sorry, I'm so sorry" He repeated
I reached out and stroked Mitsuhide's face, he lifted up his head and looked at me. He looked surprised and blinked a couple of times.
"Y/n?, Thank god!" Mitsuhide breathed out and got close to me and wrapped his arms around me and embraced me so emotionally. I can't tell you how it happened but I could feel everything he was feeling in that one hug.
"I'm so glad, I thought you were gone" He ran his hands up and down my hair, kissing the top of my head.
"How are you?. Are you in pain?. I'll call Ieyasu" Mitsuhide was about to get up when I tugged on his sleeve weakly.
"N...no, Don't go yet" I said in a weak whisper, looking up to Mitsuhide's pleadingly
He looked back at me and sat back down.
"Okay but I should really go fetch Ieyasu" Mitsuhide said as he sat back down
"I'm sorry" I sobbed into my hands, Mitsuhide gasped
Mitsu POV
I was stunned when Y/n apologised
I moved her hands away and put my finger under her chin and lifted her face up to look me in the eyes.
I saw she had to catch her breath and her eyes went wide when she looked into my eyes. She always said that my eyes were breathtaking I just never understood.
"No, don't say that. It was my fault, I should have been more alert. I'm the one who's sorry".
I caressed her cheek
I enclosed my hands around hers.
"No Mitsuhide, It's me I can't protect myself, I'm naive and I don't think about these things when I'm out, I bet they all know about our relationship now"
"It was my job to protect you that's what I promised you and I failed. If they have found out non of them have said anything." I told her, keeping my voice even.
I can't let her know how much it pained me to see her like that
"Whatever they know, It won't change anything about us, right?" Y/n asked me and I instinctively knew the answer
"Of course not, little mouse. They'll just have to understand and if they don't I won't listen to them". I said and leaned over and kissed her.
A lingering heat from Y/n's lips remained with me. As I enveloped her with my arms.
"Rest now" I told her as I pushed her down on the futon and pulled the covers over her.
Eventually Ieyasu was fetched.

I'm sorry its been like a month since my last update. This one isn't very good but I hope you enjoy it. School has started back up now so I won't be able to write so often, I do have some ideas that I'm excited about I'll try and start one later on today so you can read it quicker.
