Next day. Morning.
I walked downstairs and saw Dan and Serena, Mom and Rufus standing in the kitchen.
I walked into the kitchen "oh what a nice family meeting"
Mom "well, not that this is all out in the open, maybe we can stop sneaking around"
Me "please, keep sneaking around"
Mom shot me a look "i mean, we've had the awkward run-in, and it isn't so bad"
Me "it's a disaster. "
Mom shot me another look "i don't know why we thought this would be so weird"
Me "maybe because you are dating the father of the boy your daughter is dating and didn't tell us you have a child with that man"
Dan nodded "good point"
I smiled "thanks"
Dan looked at Serena "let' leave now"
Serena nodded"nice try, mom"
They left.
Mom looked at Rufus "so i was thinking, tonight-"
I grimaced "ew, i'm still here"
Then i ran to the elevator "hold the doors open"
Serena held them open and i walked in.
Then she hit the button for the lobby.
I was standing between the couple.
Me "this is so awkward"
Serena nodded "yep"
At school.
I walked inside. People were waiting for the results of the colleges. Well, i was going to Stanford but i don't know if i'm gonna skip the first year or not.
I bumped into someone. Nate.
He smiled "hey, Flavia"
I froze confused "hey?"
Nate "you okay?"
i nodded"yeah, but i didn't think-- okay, what do you need"
Nate"i just wanted to ask if you're going to the Opera with your family tonight?"
I nodded "yeah, you?"
Nate nodded "yeah"
I nodded "okay"
Then i turned around but he grabbed my arm "wait"
I turned to him "yeah?"
Nate "i wanna apologize"
I asked confused "for what?"
Nate "the way i treated you at the snowflake ball, i 'm sorry"
I nodded "okay"
He nodded.
Me "Are you and Vanessa official now?"
Nate nodded, smiling "yeah"
My heart dropped.
I nodded "okay. see you"
Outside.
I walked to Serena who was talking to Dan.
Me "and? how's the result?"
Serena "I'm "wait-listed""
My eyes widened "what? why?"
Serena shrugged "i don't know. I mean, Blair's too, soo"
She was lying to me. She got in.
I looked at Dan "and you?"
Dan smiled, proudly "i'm in"
I smiled. Serena looked at the table Blair was sitting at with her girls and then to the new teacher.
Me "don't tell me, B.'s planning something"
Serena grabbed my hand and we walked to Blair.
Serena "i know that look...you're up to no good"
Blair scoffed "good i subjective, and if you don't believe me, you can look it up"
Serena "you want to get Rachel back for the grade she gave you"
Penelope "a new teacher's like a child. It has to be taught. And spanked"
I raised an eyebrow "the hell?"
Blair "and i can't risk not getting into Yale, so it's open season on Miss Iowa. Time to shuck the corn"
The other girls giggled.
Serena breathed out annoyed "i wasn't supposed to say anything but you--you are going to Yale. You got in, an early admission"
Blair froze "what?"
Dan "how do you know that?"
Serena "Because i declined my acceptance. You're next in line. They're gonna cal you in a couple hours.."
Dan "whoa. you--you got in?"
Blair stood up "you're the Constance student?"
She looked at her minios "cancel the Nelly Yuki project now!."
She looked back at Serena "S., why would you turn down Yale? And don't say for me, because even i wouldn't believe you"
Dan "yeah, why would you do that?"
Serena sighed "i'm-i'm sorry i wanted to tell you"
I looked down. Blair sat back down and told their minions the news.
Dan "you don't want to go?"
S. shook her head "no, i don't"
Dan nodded "i'll see you later"
Then he left.
Me "you hurt his feelings"
Serena shot me a look and looked at Blair "so-so you're not gonna go after Rachel now, right?"
Blair smiled "what would be the point?"
Night. At the Opera.
I walked inside with Jack by my side. trust me, i didn't wanna go with Jack but he picked me up from my home so i couldn't say no.
Jack had is arm around my waist.
Chuck is gonna rip my ass off.
I looked around and froze when i saw Nate and Vanessa all smiley with each other.
Jack "smile."
Me "Fuck off."
A guy was walking around, taking pictures of us.
Suddenly Mom and Rufus walked to us.
Jack "Lily, didn't know you'd be here. who's your lovely escort this evening? someone you picked up at the funeral?"
I growled "be nice"
Mom smiled "mm, this is Rufus Humphrey, the man i'm seeing. "
Jack "well, you know your beloved daughter Flavia"
Mom smiled at me "you look beautiful tonight, Flavia"
I smiled "you too mom"
Mom "yet i wished your choice of companion would be different"
Me "Well, he picked me up so i didn't really have a choice, mother"
She smiled and walked away.
I saw Chuck eying me form the corner of the room.
Me "Jack, would you excuse me for a sec?"
He nodded "I'm gonna wait in the box for you"
I nodded, fake smiling "thanks"
Then he left.
Chuck walked over to me with a glass champagne in his hand "Care to explain?"
Me "you made your point clear, Chuck"
I turned around to leave but Chuck grabbed me and turned me around.
I warned "Chuck"
Chuck "what would Nate think of this?"
Me "Chuck, i'm single, i can do whatever i want. now excuse me"
I ripped my arm free and walked up the stairs.
Then i walked to my box but didn't see Jack there, thank god.
I sat down but froze when i noticed that Nate's box was across from me.
I clenched my jaw when i saw what was going on over there.
He and Vanessa were making out.
I think i'm gonna throw up.
